9600GT which got two times sp units,wider memory width,surpasses 8600GT in every way.by the way $180 is not too costly for a totally new card.
ps:the leadtec one is much better than the giga one for the same price.

man,it's not all about the frequency. 8800GT got 112 sp units while 9600GT got 64 sp units only.

A few early benchmarks there, except they all use 1280x1024 and don't use any AA at all,s o can't expect these to display what its really capable of. All I know is it beats my 8800GTS 320, so I know what I want next

Man, I mentioned in a bunch of threads a couple months ago that nVidia would not name their new series 9600/9800. Boy was I wrong.

I still think that getting a HD3870 is the better choice. Take a look at this one:

And since the HD3870 pars with the 8800GT, for $20 bucks more I say the HD3870 is a better choice than the 9600GT.

i wont be upgrading to the 9 series just yet,The 8800GT will still be able to play high demanding games for some time to come i think.

Well in an article I saw the 9600GT was almost on part with the 3870, and surpassed it in a few tests even.

true but for the most part i still think the 3870 is a better choice, it supports quad crossfire and the 9600 can still only be used in normal sli, i think Nvidia really needs to get their heads out of their A**es and make their video cards tri-sli capable

They don't make quad crossfire boards, are you sure you're not thinking of having two 3870X2's?

It can do 2 cards at 16x and 3,4 cards at 8x
