Slow loading.

I have been having issues with my Internet Explorer for a few months now. First it would constantly freeze, so I downgraded to Internet Explorer 6. That solved most of my problems. Now I am noticing how slow many of the webpages I go to load.

I even try to go to one website and it doesn't load at all. I am also having the same issue with Mozilla Firefox with extremely slow web page loads. At first glance you would say it’s an issue with my internet connect and its not. First I play many multiplayer games on my PC and on Xbox Live, I don't get any lag. Second I have AOL installed on my PC, when I go into AOL and open up webpages they load instantly. Third I have other PC's that share this internet connection and they don't have this issue.

So what do you guys think the problem is? How can it be fixed? I wanted to also add these photos:

Many times when I load webpages it will say this:

I don't know if this is normal to see this or not. Most webpages I go I get this Google thing.

Sometimes when I go to webpages the ads don't load either. I really don't care since I don't read ads but it might have something to do with it:

Call me paranoic but I can see a malware issue there.
Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hm, the log looks clean. It seems that it's not malware caused.
Please update Java as it's extremely outdated, and then wait for someone to try to help...it seems as router problems...I don't know.
You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 4.
  • Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
  • Go to Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4 and click on Download button.
  • In Platform box choose Windows.
  • Check the box to Accept License Agreement and click Continue.
  • Click on Windows Offline Installation, click on the link under it which says "jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe" and save the downloaded file to your desktop.
  • Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
  • Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 3 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
  • Reboot your computer
  • Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Java if present
  • Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file with the java icon which will be at your desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Reboot your computer
 
Thanks for your help. I updated my Java. I would of thought the slow loading is caused by my router because a few months ago it was giving me very high ping. Though right now my router is working normally (Trust me I tested) and the webpages on my other two computers load fast. Plus when I use AOL on this computer the webpages load fast.

I don't want to do it but if I can't find a solution I guess I will reformat.
 
Just an update. I noticed when I downloaded the updated Java my Internet Explorer is loading fast. Also one of the sites that refused to load on Internet Explorer now works. I don't think downloading this update totally solved the problem but its much improved.
 
Have you tried browsing with Opera www.opera.com ?
It's a fast browser, and uses fewer resources than FF or IE. No harm in trying it out since it's free anyway. Until your IE/FF is fixed, it may be of help.

Also, you have run the usual set of spybot scans, cleaned out all the browser cache etc, right? Just checking....:o

Eh we were stupid; indeed many sites use java nowadays and this shurely helped a lot. Maybe your speed has decreased a bit ( we have some cases ) and plus you had a very outdated java version...
keep updating us if any problems pop up!

Thanks for that I might try that out. I ran McAfee Anti-Virus software and used CCleaner so I did everything short of reformatting my PC.

So many things could of cause the problems so its not hard to believe something could of been overlooked. Overall the problem has been solved but still on certain websites the loads are very slow. Like right now it took forever to open a new window to quote your post, but if I open up a new window and let me homepage load it loads extremely fast.

I know I am going to hate it but I am going to need to find an extra 3-5 hours to reformat my computer. Maybe a file is corrupted, maybe its something else but I can't live with this.
