Ok, first off i may be able to get a reply to what may be wrong with my computer. I think its the hard drive but im not sure.

I have a custom PC for gaming. And i have had it for a long while. I don't know the specs nor whats in it. I no little about PCs. But when i logged into a game at one point it all froze is i restarted the computer and when i restarted it i noticed it was rebooting abit slower than normal. And when i went to log into my game i saw some places in the back ground had some neon looking spots on it. So i thought it was the video card. I think logined in to the game and then it automaticly shut off. the whole thing.

I reboot it again and this time i got to the desktop and then it turned off. And now when i try it, it will hardly start. Sometimes it won't even turn on. I don't think tis the video card otherwise i would still be able to get on it and everything. It could be the motherboard but if it was the motherboard i don't think i would be able to start it at all. So what i think is that tis the hard drive.

On that note. I know nothing about hard drives. Don't know where to get them. what to get. How to put them in. nothing.

I really need some help. If there are any questions that could help then just let me know

Those "neon looking spots" could be a sign of the graphics card being pushed too far. I don't know anything about overclocking (or underclocking) graphics cards, which means that...someone else is going to have to help you with this. If the computer refuses to start, the graphics card *may* have fried out. Thenagain, I wouldn't know for sure...

I don't think there's anything wrong with the harddrive - I can be wrong. It just doesn't seem to be that.

Is the graphics card onboard? Just have a look at the connector. If it's vetical and located near heaps of other ports, it's *almost* 100% surely onboard. If the connector is horizontal and located somewhere on the lower half of the tower, it's probably not onboard.

btw...does the computer POST = when you boot it up, does it come up with those messages like how much RAM you have and what kinda harddrives are there and so on? Or where exactly does it usually stuff up?

i just turned it on and nothing even came up on the screen. Its still black. As for the video card. Its horizontal and is about middle of the tower.

also when i turn it on, only for a split second i see text of some srt ont he top and bottom on the screen then back to black. The text is just a flash it seems

Does the computer have onboard video at all? If so, you might want to try removing the one you're using (apparently offboard) and plugging your monitor into the onboard one and see if it works. If not, if possible you might want to try replacing your current graphics card to see if that produces any results (If you or your buddies dont have a spare videocard lying around, don't wander off to shops and buy one unless you're sure that you want your current one replaced).

How old is that computer anyway?
