Question About Reinstalling Software

I bought a program that has limited uses and uninstalled it because i needed some space. I didn't use all of chances I had to use the program and when I try to reinstall it it still won't let me install it. I cleaned the registry and that still didn't work. Anyone have any ideas how I can reinstall it.

If you have a system restore point available to go back before it was first put on you will be able to bring the registry itself back to that point. It also depends on how you emoved the program itself with an uninstaller provided or through the control panel?

But you mention a manual edit of the registry that still leaves files and folders as well as installation logs in places like under your user name. Without using the uninstall option or going through the control panel the installer thinks that the program is still installed. What type of program are seeing this with?

It's with a testing software to pass the NCLEX exam (License exam to become a nurse).

I did use the uninstall software with the program, but I still can't reinstall it. The registry program I used might not have picked up on everything, but I can't seem to find agood free one.

I have seen this, it's very sneaky. If you've used up a trial period on a program, even after uninstalling it the program leaves registry traces so that you can't reset the trial count. It could be hidden inside an inane key or something.

What would be the best way to go about finding anything it left behind to remove it?

If it was a shareware and not a software you bought retail then there are a few cleaners to see anything remaining gone but you would need to buy the full version at this time to see the same program work. Rothzael is quite correct about sharewares with time limits. You either buy the full version or wait to see if they release a newer trial version usually months later if at all.

For the less experienced with no experience in manually editing the system registry the Eusing freeware cleaner is one lately that works quite well. For the more advanced user RegCleaner opens to a main window where all non MS programs are listed seeing each one's main key next to them. The menu bar>tools option includes the automatic registry cleanup tool there.

For RegCleaner, http://www.dewassoc.com/support/useful/regcleaner.htm

Eusing is seen at http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm

The thing about it is that I did buy a book and the book had the CD with it. So it seems a little unfair for me that i couldn't just reinstall it, but I will try those programs and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for all the information and help.

Often those are trial versions included along with books as a means of advertising the software available in that field. Unfortunately once the trial period is over you have to go with the retail version in order to see that cleaned up with the full version's own installer.

A good search for that type of software reveals that Barnes + Noble carries this type of software along with others as seen at http://search.barnesandnoble.com/NCLEX-4000/Springhouse-Publishing-Company-Staf/e/9780781777902/

Hope this is a good tip for you there.
