Good Deal on Windows Vista for $69.48?

No cons and simply "no good"! That's the stripped edition of Vista seen there. For most the Home Premium at least or Ultimate editions are what people look at.

They're breaking the MS EULA even selling it. First, it's branded (ie a major manufacturer like Dell, Acer, HP, etc). To make matters worse, you're not allowed to sell it by itself, even if it wasn't branded. So, even if you buy it you won't own a legal copy of Vista.

Also another question. I was looking at getting 32-bit Vista rather than 64-bit Vista. Does 32-bit Vista have more software drivers available for it? Does it also take less resources on your video card since it is a 32-bit Operating System? I don't really care if I have a 3.25 gigabyte memory barrier.

Both types see driver support from the leading hardware manufacturers at this point. But for any off way no name products even the 32bit editions can run into the lack of drivers and softwares since those remain XP only.

The main difference between the 32 and 64bit edititions has nothing to do with the 512mb minimum seen for Vista in general. The main kernel is the difference. The bulk of the softwares available are still 32bit for the time being with a very limited amount of 64bit being released. After the next version however Microsoft plans to dump 32bit entirely in about 4-5yrs. if they are on schedule?

It depends on exactly what programs and games you are running. Try enough and you'll find out fast that many simply won't work at all. Just going from XP to the 32bit editions of Vista will lose a few along the way there. This is one reason why many hate upgrading to a newer version of Windows and have to replace current programs with newer softwares.

As far as Vista Home Basic, I recently switched to it from Ultimate 64-bit. I tried the Vista Ultimate 64-bit and had a few problems with the BSOD. I took the lazy way out and installed a 32-bit version of Vista Home Basic and I've been very pleased thus far. I know some folks would think of me as a complete idiot but I am much happier with the Basic 32-bit version than I was with the Ultimate 64-bit version. I don't use my PC for home theater so I don't need that aspect of Ultimate. I don't care for the 3-D flip nor Vista Glass. My PC is used as a basic net surfing, e-mailing and occasional gaming so Basic suits me just fine. Others who require more of their PC would rather have Premium or Ultimate I'm sure. Basic seems to be very stable and I tell you what.....I popped in the old XP hard drive the other day to check something and after using XP again, Vista seemed faster to me. Regardless, get Basic if you're in my shoes. If you need more, get Ultimate or Premium. Hope this helps.

Most will want the Home Premium edition at least for a variety of reasons. Here when first going for Vista the Ultimate edition was already sold out fast. Ultimate is usually more then what the average user will use while the Basic edition is often less. Currently Microsoft is starting to lower prices since the sales are not as high as was anticipated apparently.

It was just $119.99 last week showing the prices are starting to come down. Gee? Now I can wait a little bit for the Ultimate edition at last! :P
