Win98 or SE

Just says 98. Also should I buy the upgrade or the one for pc without os'es. Also will the upgrade version work for vitrual pc 2007

Ok. So! How do I just format the laptop! Do I reboot and enter a commend or something. Give me give me instructions:P

To install Windows 98, you need to boot from the floppy drive using a startup disk. Then, select the "Enable CD-ROM" support.

You can download the files to create a boot floppy Here. Just download and extract to the desktop, then copy the contents of the folder onto the floppy. Then, reboot the system and it should boot directly to the A:\ floppy.

To format the drive once you have the floppy setup and whatnot, you will see "A:\> and you just type "fdisk" (without quotes) and delete the first partition on the HDD (if you don't have anything on there you need). Thenm create a primary partition and an extended partition. Then, exit FDISK and reboot using the floppy again. Enable CD-ROM support and then when "A:\>" appears, type "D:\" (without quotes) and then type "Install" and the rest is easy! Just follow the instructions.

the old 98 laptop has a usb port. But what would I do. I can't get the net on it;) Is it simple just to reboot and do a command prompt or something
I'm going to buy a win98SE for it but its distrubuton for pc without OS I.E formating.
It comes with this:

Unopened

Pack is complete with -

Windows 98SE Boot Disk,

Windows 98SE Holographic CD,

Windows 98SE Starts Here CD,

Windows 98SE Getting started manual

Windows 98SE Certificate of Authenticity

Does the holographic cd mean the OS itself thingy.

The holo-CD has the OS on it,yes. What I'd do to load it is to place the boot disk in your computer and copy the contents to a spare flash drive. Then plug it into the USB port on the lappy and set the BIOS to boot from the flash drive. (It should be able to do that under "Other". It MAY work, but I'm sure. I've never tried to boot from a USB flash drive.

Still it has no intenet and the plug & play loves drivers;)
I'm buying the os for pcs without 'em so can I use it on the 98 laptop and install it as a repair or something or at bios set it to boot from cd and go from there;)
