Help Me Build A New Computer!!!

alright guys i am really excited about the set up but i am wondering how easy is it to put this together i am working with my cousin who says he can do it for me but he is pretty busy is it pretty difficult to put this together myself? i am pretty good with putting things together i have wired car stereos etc etc? there is a guy here locally who says he will put it all together for me for 149.99 is that good?

LOL... don't get scammed off $150. It really won't take too long to set it up yourself. If you can't figure something out then try to google it or post back here. No point in wasting money :P

watch youtube videos as you do it and read your manuals that come with you mobo and stuff.. make sure to put your brass or silver pegs on the back plate then your motherboard so you dont short it out and fry it like me :( godamn manual didnt tell me that part

redevil added on in his list but im sure you only need that if you are overclocking your cpu.If you dont plan to do that then you can just use the stock one that comes with the cpu.

alright well i am ready to start buying some of the equipment i actually got a hold of a freind of mine who is an IT specialist and he is going to help me build the computer. i am not planning on overclocking so i think i can probably get away without a dedicated separate cpu cooling fan but for 40 dollars i don't mind having to buy one what do you guys think. also my friend said to go with microsoft xp instead of vista anyone want to comment on this will this make any difference with the video card i am getting since from what i understand xp doesn't have direct x 10?

oh also i can spend a little more than 1000 dollars if i want should i just get a really high end psu to future proof the system or is that over kill?

ya that mobo is good to go. xp doesnt support DX10 but it is still the most common OS.Vista is good because its supports dx10 but it still has its problems theres an update often for it. I bought it thinking awsome im up to date with OS but i hate it so much i want my XP back :(. thats my opinion though you can choose yourself read some reviews on both and make your decision from there. As for the CPU fan you dont really need it cause theres one that comes with the cpu but if you want it to look cool and keep your temp downt hen go for it if you want to spend the money. As for the thermal compund mine came with it already on but some CPU's you have to do it manualy its not hard to do but dont over do it. And last but not least the PSU idea you have a good one picked out for you already but hey if you have the cash go for it

all right i think i am going down to the local micro center this weekend and picking up all these parts last question before i start building, i am confused as to the power of the heat sink and fan and also the case fans, usb plugs etc etc. where do these all plug into do they get there own power or do they leech it off the motherboard? is it pretty easy to know where all the plugs go on the mobo for instance the led power light of the case or the hdd light from the case?

the manual for the motherboard will give you a layout and tell you where led plugins go and the power supply connector goes and all of that if your getting the 8800 GPU it will come with power connectors and you will have 2 seperate cables with 2 female parts take 1 female from each one and use the male GPU cords into the females and then basicly kitty wire the rest you probably wont get it your first time but you'll figure it out :D if you have more questions when you get your computer that your manuals dont tell you post on here again people will help you. Good Luck

Yeah I saw that, but then I thought Intel... but I already knew he wanted AMD but then again, I thought Intel. I'm going Intel! :P

Got Intel? :D

lol I don't know why I have always bought amd so i figured when building why not stick with amd i like the set up though ramodkk thanks for the ideas. instinct now you have confused me again i didn't know the video card was going to need its own power supply ugh so it will have a female plug coming off of it for power and i can just plug it into the psu male side or is it not going to be that easy? also what about grounding myself i heard i should look into this like getting a wrist strap or something? i was going to build the thing in my kitchen where i have granite counters and hard wood floors to minimize the static electricity problem.

lol your power supply will have female parts and your video card will have a power cable connector with male ends. On your power supply there are 2 strands that are the same thing just seperate connect 1 strand female to 1 male part and the other strand female to the other male. :)
