wireless printing

How do I set this up? I have the standard router Comcast used from 5 years ago when we got wireless internet, and I have an oldish usb printer which is hooked up to the "family" computer. I want to hook the printer up to the router cause the family computer is terrible and slow.

So... if my printer is USB, could I just get a newer router that has USB and then plug the printer into that? Would a new router do the trick, or would we need to get a new printer also?

you could get a print server, but they are pretty expensive. your best bet is to hook the printer up to a computer that is always on, then set up printer sharing. what OS are you using?

You just simply leave the Printer hooked up to the family computer. You share the printer on your home network just like you would with file sharing. Then you can add that printer to any computer in the network and print with it

did you even read my above post?

The family computer has windows 2000.... is it possible to print share with it? It would have to share with XP, Vista, and Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5. This idea could work, but we'd rather not run it constantly since it's loud and power hungry.

Isn't and airport express just an Apple branded router... if so couldn't a generic one work just as well?

Well it only needs to be on when you want to use the printer attached to it. You could put it on another computer if you want. I dont know if it would work with Macs or not.
