Importance of Brands

I believe that brands for GPU arent important wen considering to buy a new one, bcus there all the same. Dont cha reckon? (not including those OC edition)
 
Warranties are different (longer, in some cases) among brands. eVGA has an excellent step-up program and they'll allow you to replace a card even if you've damaged it due to overclocking. XFX does that as well. I voted yes. Brands are important with regard to GPUs.
 
So having the extras included with the GPU determines which brand you will choose? i would of thought u would buy the GPU for the GPU not for the little extras
 
they are hardly little extras...

a better warranty is important... and i overclock my card so i would like to be still under warranty when doing so... and the stepup program is very useful...

so why go for a random brand that doesnt offer these? thats just stupid.

That only applies to US ppl.
So brand is not important. However, I would say if the card is OC version, and the design of heatsink is more important
 
In most cases, only the chip is reference from Nvidia, ATI. Which is to say the PCB, capacitors, RAM modules, they are all manufacture specific. While an unknown brand may not have shoddy parts, they are just that: unknown. A company like EVGA has a reputation for quality. This reputation is nothing if not advantageous in the video card market.

However, I do agree to an extant. Like I said above, it's not the end-all of GPU decision, I wouldn't have a problem buying a lesser known brand if the price was convincing. If pricing was not favorable to the "lower-caste" card, I'd get an EVGA. :D
 
For most products in general I don't think brand is important, but from working in a computer Service Department I do believe it is important (for the most part) with electronics. You get what you pay for...ie how many crappy 39.99 Planet routers were returned when we should have been stocking only D-Link and Linksys. Because this is a computer forum, I answered Yes, though for most other thing in life I would answer No.
 
I feel that the brands to make a bit of a difference, so you should have left an option for "somewhat". Granted they all use the same GPU, but some manufacturers use different types/sizes of VRAM, others use better coolers, and some just look better.

I don't realize brand of routers make a difference, as I didn't have much experience on it (probably 5-6 routers with different brand...) I really don't spot the difference...
 
Brands have earned their right to be a so called "brand". Therefore, you know what quality component you're going to receive.
