Hey guys,

would i see an performance increase with more memory speed or more processor speed?

i currently have my processor overlcocked at 2.3Ghz and my memory at 824Mhz.

or should i drop the memory and up the cpu more?

i have been able to go up to 2.6 on the cpu but i didnt want to go any further than that at the time.

i would say yes. i think you would see a bigger increase in performance with the cpu overclocked as compared to the ram..

Shane, how do you have your RAM at 824MHz and your CPU at 2.3GHz... Is your divider not 1:1?

But anyway, I'd go for more CPU speed! ;)

You wont realy notice a difference in performance with ram speeds, unless you benchmark i have found. CPU speed is a lot more benefitial

i have the ram settings to auto so it set it when i upped the cpu fsb.

heres the speeds of my ram

My 2x 512Mb GIEL ram (6400)800Mhz

and my 2x 1Gb PNY (5300) 667Mhz

yeah i think il lower ram.

seems im having problems ..... i have the devider on 1:1 yet when i up the fsb to 350 = 2.450Mhz my memory goes over 900Mhz:cool:

i just know my system will not boot at that memory speed.

i dont undertstand because i have got this to 2.7Ghz before but i cant remember exactly what i did now:D

yeah and thats why i want to lower the ram speed and up my processor speed again but i cant for some reason now.

the memory speed just keeps on going up and up when raise my cpu fsb.

i cant remember how i got to 2.7Ghz:mad:

If you have the divider on 1:1 and your FSB on 350, your RAM should only be running at 700MHz.

It'll be back at 800MHz when you hit 2.8GHz, that's with a 1:1 divider on the RAM ;)

right first of all i appoligise for the bad photo quality,I tried turning flash off on my digital camera but im yet to find out how lol,Anyway back to topic.

as you can see thats all the options i have

PIC_0009_resize.jpg

PIC_0011_resize.jpg

the lowest devider i have is 1.1.25

resized to 800 x 600

i just cannot remember how i got it to 2.5-2.7,But i do know my ram was not running over 900Mhz because it just wouldnt have booted.

YAY succes it booted:

CPU FSB: 386 = 2.7Ghz

Devider 1:1.00

Memory frequency : 772Mhz

i could push it further i suppose but il leave it at 2.7 :)

im glad ive lowred the ram speed,I was afraid i would kill my 667Mhz ram by running it that fast.

Did you change the timings? If not then the memory was probably running at a high latency, which is why it was still stable.
