the windows update one is only like 66mb.

that one is like 400. and from what it says,.. you mustnt be getting anything more with it really. cos they recommend the other version.

the ifference is it supports multiple oses and languages. the one you download is for your os where as the one you can download if for ultimate, home pro, basic etc. they are the same they just dont want you cloging up there network
 
I've alreadt downloaded the one that you linked to, there isn't any point in me DL'ing the smaller one, I should just install the 400MB + one? Thanks!
 
everyone you may want to do a disk cleanup. i see a 1.6 GB temp files. I think it is from the upgrade

oh and a defrag
 
i bet they are slowly relesing it. i mean its a huge file if everyone got it, it would A) be slow download B) could crash there systems

i also seem to notice my comp is running cooler. quite a bit actually

Edit: i also did a test:
Startup: 50 sec
Ram used: 464 MB
HD left: 145 GB free
post startup: 62 sec
post ram used: 464 MB
post hd left: 185 GB

it does take up less hd (restore points gone maybe) but the startup does take a bit longer.

When I went to download it, they told me that it would be A LOT faster to go to start->all programs->and windows update. It only took me about 1 hour to get it installed!
 
it wasn't showing up for me in windows update so I just got the standalone version. No problems yet, went smoothly.

Took about 1:15 for me to load
 
well, I kept browsing the internet while it did the initial loading thingy, maybe that affected it?
