ok im not impressed with this game so far, i bought it because some dude said it was scary but so far it just sucks...actually thats putting it lightly but i hope it will change after a few updates which i can't find.

i go to fileplanet and they have a whole bunch of updates but none that i need,....I guess im at 1.0 right now and i think the latest is 1.6, correct?

well fileplanet doesn't have 1.0-1.1 or 1.3-1.4.......

where can i find ALL the updates?

thanks

i played stalker for about 10mins and i got bored with it haha, lucky my bro got it free with his motherboard

i just started playing it the other night and so far im really into it. it started slow but once the pace picks up i think it turns into a great game.

im like a lot of you, i played the first 10-15 mins or so a while ago, and thought it was lame, but a friend recently told me how amazing he thought it was so i gave it a second chance. glad i did. although i am a fan of the genre so my opinion is a little biased. it reminded me of deus ex a little and any game that does that is an automatic winner

i found the game to be ridiculously difficult. the weapons are too innacurate and underpowered, and it takes WAY too much work to advance

If the 1.6 patch is full, you don't need any other updates.

Check the mod scene. I haven't played in awhile but when I did, I picked up some truly awesome mods, some that made the game truly frightening.

Mods that make the nights darker, lights more realistic with longer range, retextured everything high quality, better gun physics and damage. Some mods that made the bountiful variety of freaky monsters come out in the dead of night, overwhelming friendly positions, some that introduced fallout waves randomly, others that modified the game to live up to the aliveness it promised, letting baddies and monster roam freely around the entirety of the map, as well as non-key friendlies.....

Needless to say, I liked the game.

i agree, i had to change the difficulty settings to medium just so i could advance in the game... but i feel like im playing with airsoft guns because i can't hit anything past 20 feet, if i do it hardly does any damage and my freakin armor does NOTHING!!!!!!

Sure, I can't remember the exact mod site I frequented, but filefront has a large mod scene..

http://stalker.filefront.com/file/ABC_Advanced_Balance_and_Collision;79656

^^ ABC mod, it's a huge one. My favourite of all the mods I used..

^^ site itself.

o sweet, thanks for that

also had another question if ya don't mind... i can boost the graphics to the max but it seems like it just adds even more jaggies to the straight edges in the game...

would this be because im using a dx10 card? or is it just normal for the game?

Jaggies are normal in all 3d games. You can alleviate the situation however, by enabling anti-aliasing. I can't remember if Stalker had an in-game setting for AA but it matters not, you can enable AA in your vidjo cards control panel/center.

A 4x level of AA should be enough. Higher level (8x, 16x) are possible, but they offer a progressively lower image quality boost, at the same time diminishing performance exponentially.

*Anti-aliasing CAN reduce performance alot, If you notice stuttering or low FPS, you might want to lower or turn it off...
