24 hours sleeping laptop??

does 24 hours sleeping laptop is alright???

I am downloading and i want to finish it immediately so I just put my laptop and he is sleeping for 24 hours while downloading......
 
Unless you set it up to keep the internet connection going while it's sleeping (I don't know how to so don't ask me) it will drop the internet connection and not download anything. Better to just have the monitor turn off.

i hope u mean that the laptop is plugged in into an actual socket for 24 hrs. sure. if its the older laptops dont reall worry about it. but if its the newer ones, prop the back against some books and it shouldnt get to hot.
 
on a similar note, is it alright to use the vista option of "standby"?

like can i just always use that and not turn my system off? will that be fine for it? or will i end up having problems cos it likes to clear the ram and so on?

You could always have it hibernate instead. It cuts down on startup time, but yeah. If your gonna do that, shut it down totally occasionally to clear the RAM and whatnot.
