Now that Windows Vista service pack 1 has been released, all eyes have shifted to Microsoft (NSDQ:MSFT)’s plans for Windows XP service pack 3, the final package of updates for the trusty OS. And, according to at least one source, Microsoft will roll out XP SP3 next Monday. According to the file description notes, Microsoft will release the final version of XP SP3 on March 24, but the 5503 test build passes all Windows Genuine Advantage checks and is able to download Windows updates that previous XP SP3 builds weren’t able to, which suggests that it could, in fact, be the final RTM build.

I think I will wait...when I downloaded SP2 I had all kinds of problems.

I didn't have any problems when I got my SP2.
Also, this thread should be on Operating Systems, but never mind...
And also, 24th March is today!?

I have not encountered any major problems with my 64 bit Vista, and I'm happy with the general performance if it, so I will save 400MB of my bandwidth. I do not see the point in fixing something that is not broken. I have heard from friends that have downloaded it say that the boot time is much faster, like in 30-40 seconds, my boot time of 1 minute 5 second is bearable so I will just wait until I really need it before downloading and installing it.

I remember some early testers claiming SP3 gave Xp around a 10% boost when working with certain programs. I'm thinking of getting it the moment I can. :D

I downloaded it a couple of days ago. I don't even know why i did since i'm going back to XP in like 2 days.

XP SP3 is coming out...today?? About time, mind you, they said Vista was going to be out last year
