Fish Tank Case

How hard would it be to use/make a fish tank case. Not holding anything too valuable. An Athlon 2100+, 512 Megs of DDR RAM and an ATI sapphire 9550. This would be more for experience than anything.I have an old case lying around but that has a lot of sentimental value so I don't wanna use that... My dad still hasn't said OK but I'm thinking about it and he has no reason to say no. Cooling shouldn't be a problem as I have a spare 180 mm fan lying around and a stock intel HSF which I can take the fan off of.

Please post you opinions and thoughts.

PS: I don't have any fish so don't worry;)

The PSU would sit on top of the fish tank so some electrical tape might hold that into place. The mobo might just be sitting there with some sort of non conductive panel under it. I'm thinking foam possibly. I might make some kind of bracket or something just above the PCI slots for the HDD and Optical drive made out of what ever I have lying around. I'll post some pics soon if I can dig up a camera around here.

I took some pictures only to find out that the cable to connect the camera to the PC is broken! Then I try to use an external burner to connect it up only to find that the power cable is missing! So no pictures...

The only thing I can really mount properly would be the mobo and don't you need those special brass screws for that?

just out of interest. is there any problem with not having your system in a case? like say i had it all laying on a table hahaa. would it be really bad? cooling wise i suppose the airflow wouldnt be good hahaha. but yeah.

i ask cos when i get to india i might not be able to get a new case for some time. ill leave my case here and jiust take my parts.

so if i dont have a case for a while could i jsut leave all my parts somwhere they wouldnt be knocked?

thanks :)

Good question Kuz. But I bet you could find a cardboard box lying around somewhere. Or even make a case out of your suitcase!Heh heh.

Ummm...interesting...A few years ago, I had some old AMD K6-2 system disassembled and all the parts lying around, and the thingy ran smoothly. I guess it'd be alright. Unless someone obejcts, I'd say "do it", just make sure not to step on your stuff or spill coffee on them, coz that would do no good, not for what I've heard...

Yea and a few more notes:
-Don't put your stuff on anything fabric, I don't know if this really can happen but if I were you I'd be scared of static electricity smoking up my stuff
-Making sure your expanison cards stay in place might be a bit of a challenge...
-Read my sig

hahaha thankyou for that.

yeah well ill like have a special table for it all. and have a fan.. like a big house fan. like one that turns from side to side? you know them? hahah well ill cool it all off with one of them.

illl probably have it on wood or marble haha.

i did it before witha really old system. it went alright hahaha

Well I was planning that the open end of the tank (the top) would be where all the expansion cards and ports were so that should be fine.

I didn't even think about static electricity thanks.
I've read your sig in a couple of times before so I know where not to find you.:P

Another thought I'm having would be to stack up a couple of magazines or even a bit of wood then put a heatproof mat on top of that. It needs to be raised a little about a centimeter or two. But I would like to stay away from buying anything. That's one of the points of the whole fish tank thing.

EDIT: Whoops I thought you were responding to me hackapelite...
