This problem has just started today after a power shortage in the area where the electric went out which shut the computer down. When I turned it back on once we got power and logged in nothing showed on the desktop, just showing my backround with nothing. I could hit control alt and delete to bring the task manager up and explorer.exe was not there so i typed it in manually. Everything works fine now except when I open folders on my computer it closes them withing a second that I open them. Any idea what could be up? I tried system restoring and the problem still occurs. I used avast to scan for viruses but got nothing. Any input you have would be really appreciated since I have tried the best of my abilty. Thanks

Well by the sounds of it because of the power outage the computer didn't showdown properly and this cause windows or your OS to save everything properly..... uumm.... to fix it i think you would have to just reinstall your OS. :o

Wow came to figure it out avast detected the viruses today. Avast considered them as trojan and I deleted them as fast as I could. No more problems here!
