4 all the 4gig to show, remember u need a 64-bit os. thats one helluva expensive gpu! What case are u going to get? and i hear that the intel quads r better then the Amd's. actually i havent, but ive hear that the phenom was a flop.

Spending $600 on GPU, with a crappy phemon 9600 and Abit Motherboard?

I'd rather get Q9450 + P35 + 3870x2

If you are supporter of AMD, buy Phemon a bit later when their B3 stepping Phemon (9x50) are out.
And get better motherboard with AMD 790FX chipset, which support CrossFireX (4 x PCI-E 2.0), e.g. ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WiFi
Then, get 2 x HD3870 in crossfire or HD 3870x2 rather than 9800GX2.

9800GX2 performs better than HD3870 X2 specially when running AA

And 2x HD3870 X2 doesn't perform a lot better than HD3870

Q6600 is faster than any phenom, check the benchmarks

True, but I am assuming he have $900 for his GPU + MB + CPU.
If spending 600 on GPU, which leave him $300 for MB and CPU. A $100 MB is not really good. Anyway.

Also a 3870 is now $170. So $340 for 2, $510 for 3; plus he is a AMD fan.

Edit: I am not saying Phenom is better than Q6600. We knew they are not. Just because he is a AMD fan, and thus he want Phenom.

+1 Going all out on the gpu and cheaping out on everything else is not a good idea, stay within your limits, spread your money out and you will be better off in the end.
