New build, endless tone

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone can help me out.

Just put together my new build yesterday, so far as i can tell everythings connected ok (i even checked the various manuals ;P), but when i power up i just get a continuous beep out of the case speaker. I'm guessing thats supposed to be a warning of some kind although theres nothing about it in the mobo manual, and it goes on forever (afaik anyway, i've never kept it going more than 10 secs or so). No signal to the monitor either.

Build:
Thermaltake toughpower 750w modular psu
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe 780i
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 w/Zalman CNPS9500A
Corsair 4GB Kit DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory (2*2gb)
Seagate 500GB Hard Drive SATA II 7200rpm 32MB Cache
EVGA 8800GT 512MB (possibly gonna use step-up to get a 9800gx2/gtx when i've seen some more reviews, assuming i can get the build working ;p)
Sony Sata 20X DVD-RW


So far i've checked all the connections are in fully (and that i havn't forgotten about any), swapping the memory round to the other channel and using just one stick (although afaik a problem there wouldn't cause this), tried the gfx card in the other pci-e slots, and systematically disconnecting the hdd, dvd-rw ect to see if any of them are causing this somehow. Even does it with the gfx card and ram out. This isn't the piercing beep the 8800s give when they don't have their power cable connected.

Also worth noting is that none of the fan connectors go into the motherboard, but through a Sythe fan controller in a 5.25" bay at the front, which is powered from a regular molex straight from the psu. I figured the tone might be a warning triggered by the mobo not detecting a cpu fan so i plugged the cooler straight into the socket on the mobo. No joy there.

Anyone got any ideas? Cheers in adv
 
Aye its the same tone (no variation), at the moment i'm thinkin it might be some doa ram. When you remove all ram i dont get a constant tone, but intermittent beeping with a pattern to it:

"beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep beep beep beep *short break*" and repeat over and over.
 
Bad ram won't give you a steady tone, make sure your gpu is powered correctly. On my 3870 there are 2 power connections and both need to be connected but im not sure about the 8800.
 
The 8800GT has a single 6 pin pci-e power connector, which i have in. I've tried swapping out the cable and trying it from a different socket on the psu (modular), no joy. Normally with an 8800 (dunno about any other cards) the tone comes straight from the gpu when it doesn't have its power cable plugged in properly, but this noise is definatly coming from the mobo.

Well those just seem like obvious questions.

Anyway, nope theres no onboard graphics unfortunatly. I may have to pick up a cheap pci card just to check. Any other ideas? Or can anyone confirm if the constant, non-changing tone is caused by the gfx card or the ram? People keep telling me different things :s
 
Right now i'm inclined to think its the gfx card, as the tone changes when i take out the ram but not when i take out the gpu. Plus, if there was a problem with the ram, wouldn't it still give some signal to the monitor?:confused:
 
No, it would not give a signal to the monitor. I saw RMA the motherboard, CPU, GFX, and memory if possible. Try one stick of RAM at a time, then vice versa.
