vista 32 bit

It's so rediculous! People on xp can upgrade no prob and people with vista cant! Retarded if you ask me.

I think you can just buy the upgrade disk but reformat and install with the upgrade disk. The upgrade disks are exactly the same as the regular disks. The upgrade disks actually uninstall the old stuff and then install the new. Kinda dumb b/c people are wasting their money on the full install disks!

Cant you like, get an upgrade from microsoft from 32-bit to 64-bit for 10$ or something like that?

I think you can actually! But you have to stick with the same version you have and only switch to 64bit! I'll do some research and come back to you guys with answers.

Ok after some searching I found out that on an OEM version of vista you can but have to go through the dealer you bought your pc from. Which means a hassle! I also found out that you can buy the 64bit disk and its about $10 and you use the 32bit key for it!

Okay, after some searching I found out that on an Original Equipment Manufacturer Version of Vista you can but have to go through the dealer you bought your PC from. Which means a hassle! I also found out that you can buy the 64-bit disk and its about $10 and you use the 32-bit key for it!

So I could buy a 64-bit version of Vista from Microsoft for $10 even though I have a 32-bit Original Equipment Manufacturer disc of Vista?

You can but you are supposed to do it through your pc's company. So for me that means calling hp and asking about it.

Then there's the issue of the Service Packs.

That's not a big deal. I can just uninstall my Windows then do a reinstall without any of the Service Packs and then upgrade to 64-bit when the time comes in the distant future. It will be quite some time before I need more than 3 gigabytes of RAM. Thanks for the information.
