Adding a second hard drive with XP

Hello. I bought the Scarface game for pc, but I found out that it's not compatible with Vista. It needs a patch that hasn't been released yet. I thought of a solution, though. We have an Emachines that we originally mean't to pull the hd out of and scrap the rest. It has XP.

I'd like to put that hd in this computer (it's ultra dma and my motherboard is ultra dma compatible). I guess I could boot off of it when I want to play Scarface. I have the system restore disks for the emachines, so maybe I could use them to reformat and install on this computer? Any help is appreciated!

In all likely hood it wont boot in the new computer and chances are the Emachine restore disk will not work on another computer and if boots by the grace of God Microsoft will not validate a OEM Emachine copy of XP on another computer.

The old hdd has xp on it?

Yep, the old one has XP on it.

Well, true, the validation could be a problem. Although, it won't necessarily see an internet connection. All I want it for is one game and maybe another if needed. I wouldn't be using the hd for much. As long as it works I'd be happy.

You'd still have to activate it after 30 days; otherwise it won't let you log on.
