more fans ~ better cooling?

I just got 2 120mm fans for my xclio windtunnel case ( mostly to out do my fried because he is building a computer now too) but I put them in and it seems like I'm actually getting worse case temps now ( only like 1-3C). I was wondering if moving too much air is a bad thing because the heat wouldn't have time to transfer to the air from the heat sinks. I'm probably just crazy. Also my room isn't exactly warm (67F) anyway so this may be on of my problems and the more air flow may help in a warmer environment.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon.

Edit* In the process of making this thread I have turned my 120mm fans down to about 200rpm and my case temp is now 19Cish and with the fans maxed at 1800rpm my case temp is 21Cish... explain that.

Did you put them at the front and back? When you add fans you have to make sure that they help the flow of air, not just move air. If they are all blowing in different directions then it will not cool very well.

Both are exhaust one on the top and one on the back. I have 2 240mm fans on the side too aka "windtunnel". I checked them both and both are sucking air out.

I don't know why you're trying to outdo your friend...you're just wasting your money. His (my) Thermaltake Armor will blow your case away. (When it gets here).

Oh, and by the way, you have a P4. (Just in case you forgot).

Well if the airflow is good, then I have no idea why. If the air is moving faster, it should feel cooler to the sensor. Doesn't make sense.

The back fans are probably disrupting the air flow in your case. And I also do not understand this competition. More fans doesn't necessarily mean better cooling. Plus, a quiet computer is so much better than a loud one :).

Well, if you have a 120mm blowing in, 2 240mm side fans blowing out, AND a 120mm rear fan blowing out...that's kind of a moot point. The amount of (warm) air being vented out the back is very small compared to what it would be without the two 240mm's; they're simply getting most of it out first.

In this case, have you considered making the rear an intake as well? That way, cool air would enter through the front and rear, and warm air exhausted out the sides.

After messing with the fan for a while I got mad because my wire management sucks so I completely took my computer apart, mobo and everything, and i drilled some holes so I can run cables behind the mobo tray and in the process of doing this I discovered a place to mount a 120mm fan in the front of my case and my temps are amazingly low now. My north bridge is running at 34 my south bridge is running at 35, my cpu ( which people always tell me the sensor is messed up or something) is at 22 and my overall case temp is 19.

Depends on the CPU and a few other conditions. What have you? Chipsets seem a bit hot - small/no HSFs? My Northbridge is at 29, and the my office my system is in is about 72*F at the moment.

The proper notation for "is not equal to" is "!=". "~" means "approximately".
Actually I'm in physics ( sure none of you care) and the double ~ means approximately and the single ~ means directly proportional.

I don't believe in case/CPU fans, although I have them to assist the cool air conditioning coming out of the floor

Really? You think THOSE bridges temps. are high? Wow..I guess mine's horrible then. I have the Maximus Formula as well and a Q9450 (stock speed) and my NB & SB temps are about 46 idle, 56 load.

I have the TT Armor case...and I must say, I'm disappointed with it so far (cooling wise). I should have gotten the one with the 25mm side fan...(but I figured that it would disrupt airflow more than it'd help).
