Cant enter computer in safe mode (vista)

Problem started when I installed a XP program and when realized it uninstalled it and rebooted.
I now get an error LoginUI.exe
Windows cant run C:/Windows/system32/UxTheme.dll

Im able to get to my password screen on login but when it gets past there im stuck on a black screen that has safemode stated in all four corners and microsoft windows service pack 1 stated at the top..:confused: SCREENSAVER IS WORKING!!!
I used my Vista disk to repair,but nothing.I even used Norton ghost 14.0 but it cant find a system restore point.
I know once in safe mode I was able to log in from my last working log in area on the black and white safe mode page ,but am unsure where I found it now?

Any ideas before I lose it all.....

Sounds like it accidently uninstalled the stock/default theme or startup screen! Thats the bad thing with themes!! If something goes wrong it almost means a reformat!!
 
When booting with the Vista installation disk did you try the system restore option there or just the startup repair tool? You installed an XP theme changer on Vista where another method would be manual removal of the driver and registry entry for it. The option to restore to an earler date option should get things back running again.

Im running vista this was a foreign program to my computer.

System won't do restore with disk.
How do I remove the driver?
 
Apparently that 3rd party theme changer for XP got you good there. The option for using the system restore feature is seen along with the options in the repair tools section of a full version Vista disk if you are using that. For manual removal of the driver itself you would want to add the drive on another system running Vista not XP to avoid any loss of restore points if you are still unable to restore method to roll the system back. The registry edit requires Windows to be running to see any entries manually removed or with a program like RegSeeker.

The other option to see the driver gone is if you were already dual booting with another version of Windows or booting with a live Linux distro to browse the system32 folder and delete the file there. Know any Linux users? Most will have a live for cd distro onhand.

Are you sure you can't boot up in safe mode by pressing the F8 key right when the post tests complete? Your reference to safe mode earlier points at simply seeing Windows enter a safe mode following the arrival at the user prompt.
