i want to upgrade my cpu. i have a intel pentium d 2.66 OC to 2.98 and i was wondering if a faster pentium d dual core would be better or a intel core 2 duo?

Depends on the CPU - Dual Core Pentiums are known to handle a wicked OC. They're basically toned-down C2D's. I you want/need a larger cache, go with an actual C2D.

<--loved his IP-95:)

All E21xx's and most C2D's, save for the just-released ones, will work on them.

I agree with the E4500 - I picked one up earlier this week and I'm thrilled with it. At stock speeds, it runs circles around my old D940, and they can handle a nice OC.

While I agree with an aftermarket HSf, no need to spend that much on one. My $10 Masscool keeps this stock Idle at 18*C, and load at 27*C - even if I OC it to 3.0Ghz, it will still be well within acceptable temps.

cool.
are you doing a new build if you are are you keeping your case. i like your case.

if you on about the thermaltake soprano yes i am keeping it, its part of the upgrade ive jus got it. but didnt have all the funds this month to do all the components too so just bought the case for the time being
