Server powerful enough?

As you may or may not know, I am a web developer.

I have just released a free image hosting site/service to the public - I aim to have it better than the big "popular" ones floating on the Internet.

Anyway, back on topic, it's being hosted on a dedicated server with the following specs:
- Intel Quad Core Q6600 Processor
- 4GB DDR2-800mhz RAM
- 2x 160GB HDD 7200rpm RAID 1
- 64-bit Linux OS

Do you think it's powerful enough for the job? :)

as a start that is ok, but it wont touch the big players. I wouldnt invest too much at the start if i wer you.

Seems to be a good service though, uploaded this onto it:

If it does get more busy (and I will be using it from now on) you an always stick more kit in as Punk said.

EDIT: Before anyone asks, that picture was taken using fully legal software.

Yeah I just tested the website and it works great!! I wish you could subscribe or register and build folders of pics though. Even so, I am still going to be using that site for a while now!!

You can register and create albums for picture/photo sharing!

I am still working on making the member navigation menu a bit easier to navigate through at the moment.. :)

Thank you for the feedback everyone. :)

apj101: I was surprised to see an admin actually respond to this. :D I won't be investing that much money into this site but I do think that it has the potential to compete with at least ImageShack! ;) The domains are quite competitive, don't you agree?

I'm going to be keeping ImageSpace.us as fast as possible...I don't plan on having "too many members" etc becoming a problem!

Again, thanks for the feedback everyone.

You will need a lot more then 160GB of storage if you want to have several members upload their photos, but it seems to load images fairly quick with very few users active.

It's on a server with 2x 160GB HDD with RAID 1 set-up! So right now it has 320gb of disk space available total for public use, minus a few kilobytes to host the site files! :D :p

Either you don't know much about RAID or you don't have RAID 1.

RAID 1 mirrors the drives, so you will only have 160GB of available space. If you have RAID 0 then you would combine the drives for a total of 320GB.

Yes I'm sorry...
I have more than one server man. :o

I think I just confused RAID 0 with RAID 1...or perhaps I am a fool.
My bad...forgive my n00b outbursts.
