How can I get the cool see threw case?

Hi, I am new to this forum. My name is Trey, Im from Texas. And honestly not too computer friendly but I saw on a website(newegg) that had this really cool case with green neon lights, and it had a see threw window on one side of the case. But my problem is I have a dell computer right now that is just the basic kind. Can I transfer all the internals over to the new computer case? or is that impossible or can I just keep the computer case I have now and add a see threw window and neon lights?

Heres the case I like

Yes to both questions.

You could cut the casing and add perspex and then some cold cathode lights or buy a new case and transfer all of your components. If you're not familiar with the inside of a pc then you might want to ask someone who is for some help. If you buy a new case then make sure it has space for everything e.g. trying to put an ATX motherboard into an mATX case just won't happen.

If you post the model of dell you have and what case(s) you're interested in then someone will tell you whether what you've got will fit inside or not.

Thanks for the info. I am currently in college taking a computer class. And we completly gutted the computer and the instructor had us put is all back together. But when I transfer it all, do I have to buy anything else to make pieces fit? or should all the old pieces be fine and fit and bolt right up?

anyone else? my main question is if I can transfer everything from the old case to the new case without buying anything but the new case? or do I have to buy some new stuff to make stuff work? Thanks, Trey

Size wise that case should be fine, however looking at the price you may find that it's very plasticy and probably won't be finished or put together as well as more expensive cases.

Swapping cases is very easy. Just unplug everything, undo the screws and move it across. You don't need to touch anything on the board apart from the connectors.

If you buy a new case you can transfer all your old inards to the new case, as long as the m/b will in the case and no you shouldnt have to buy anything else m8, just fit the spaces to the m/b tray and your good.
just remember to ground yourself first m8 and make a note of where the internal wiring is

Yes, that case will work.

Generally speaking, computer components are extremely standardized and modular, so for the most part, everything will work with everything.

The only thing that I can imagine would give you any trouble at all is that some Dells have really weird fans on the CPU(processor) that are attached to the case.

If your CPU fan is attached to the case than you will probably have to buy a new one. But thats not a big deal, as basic CPU fans are about $15. (check to see if the fan comes with thermal paste or not. If not you need some. either way, only use a pea sized amount of thermal paste)

Are all the cases universal?

For the most part, yes. Your Dell most likely has an ATX motherboard. It will fit in all ATX cases, be they mid tower, full tower, or server. The only thing you would have problems with is a mATX, or Micro ATX case, as those can only fit Micro ATX motherboards in them.

how do I know if I have a Matx or a Micro ATX?

And how do I know if my power supply will fit? If I get a photo of my old case and pics of my internals can yall show me what I case I can get? Thanks, trey

There are little star screws holding your motherboard on I assume. if there are just brackets, then you have a mobo clip. Just take the front plastic part off your old case and pull the clip out and the mobo should just come right out. I'm too lazy to get a pic of my old dell right now.

Ehh, do you mean rivets on the external, or on the internal? Show us some pictures, or at least give us a link to your model. Dell has several cases every year, and these cases change yearly as well

You know, there's a chance that your motherboard might have proprietary brass standoff locations. You should look into that before you buy another case. My friend has an HP that doesn't use standard screw locations. It only fits in his HP case.

I'm talking about the places on the motherboard where you mount it onto the case. Just double-check.

heres a pic of the back of my computer.
