I Got a Virus, Can't See Desktop Now

Hi All,

I recently got a virus from a P2P site. I think it was a trojan horse. I updated my spyware/anti-virus software and cleaned my computer.

The internet is running fine now, but when I first turn the computer on my desktop icons only appear for about 2 seconds and then they all disappear. The start icon and the rest of the graphics that run along the bottom of the screen also disappear.

I am unable to access any of the files on my computer now. Does anyone know how I can restore my computer to normal? I would really appreciate the help!

try ctrl alt del then click on add new process followed by 'explore.exe' or 'explorer.exe' agh i forgot it was ages since i used windows p.s dont add ' in the command

Thanks! That helped. I can see them now, BUT now the icons and the bottom of the screen display flash on, then off over and over again. Do you know of a way to make that stop?

Do you use a mac now?

No I don't and yes I dont use a mac just the operating system
