I had a nephew that was spending some time at my house and I believe that he played a prank on me. I am not able to change my background display. I go to start, control panel, appearance and then go to display properties. I only have four boxes to select from (themes, screen saver, appearance and settings). Can someone remove the desktop button, and how do I get it back.

Thanks for any and all help.

WOW!!!!! I don't know how he did that.

Have you got an Video Card or is the Graphics card on the motherboard???

You should be able to change the backround through the driver...

What OS do you have?

I honestly do not know. I just assumed that he did, as he was changing the screen saver often (my wife got on to him) and later I noticed the above (right after he left).

How would I change it through the driver?

Thanks

He would of done it in a third party program or registry. Have you thought about doing a System restore?

I tried it, but it did not work. It stated that the Group Policy is not there (I am sorry I do not remembers exactly what it stated, I am not infront of that computer now. I tried it quickly before I came to work). Any more help is appreciated.
Thanks

I think you are going to get your nephew over and get him to fix it!!!!!

Then if he wants to use the computers you make him a guest account!

I think that is the only way this is going to be solve... unless anyone else has any help....

Thanks for all of the help. I was thinking that may need to be done. He is 3 1/2 hours away and will not be availble for a couple of months. If anyone can think of anything else any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks

Send him a "Remote Assistance" notice.

just go to Start>All Programs and select the "Remote Assistance" shortcut. then follow the instructions. If needed, give your nephew a call while your doing it.
