Building Yourself?

I know that buying all the parts separately and assembling it yourself is MASSIVELY cheaper, but by configuring a desktop via a website, you get a nice warranty. IBuyPower offers a three year one if I remember correctly. So does not having a warranty really hurt you in the long run?

Note: I am not paying $29.99 per part for a 1 year warranty on Newegg. >_>

warranty depeds on the parts.

to name a few:
my intel cpu gets 3yrs
the seagate hd gets 5
power supply gets 1
vid card gets 2

the satisfaction of choosing quality parts, getting the parts cheap when on sale, and the ability to salvage older parts to cut costs is enough for me to build my own rig

if you don't mind having a company replace a cheap dead pos part with another cheap pos part until the warranty runs out and having to wait for the pc to be replaced (not to mention the time spent on the phone) then go for it

IMO, Warranty of component is not always the problem if you know which part goes wrong.
Those warranty from company like ibuypower are for those who haven't got a lot knowledge on PC.

There is a big difference when having a Company that gave u the computer having a warranty and each individual part having a warranty. The company basically will find the lowest common number between all the parts the put in (their warranties) and call it a warranty for their buyer. How often does something bad happen? Rarely. So buy parts from trusted companies and u shoudl be good. Alot of people on this site will post up for you a list of quality materials for any budget.
