Is it possible to have two monitors hooked up to one computer?

I want to use my flat screen monitor for my computer and also my tv that has a VGA output. Is it possible for them to both project the same image at the same time or use some kind of box to switch the signal from one monitor to the other?
 
I'm guessing you mean your TV has VGA input. Yes it's possible, as long as your computer has two VGA/DVI outputs then you can set it to "clone", which will do exactly what it sounds like it does, it clones the primary display onto the secondary display.

The only problem I see with this is that your TV and monitor support different resolutions, so one or the other will be distorted.

So both of the VGA ports are female. THe one my monitor is plugged into right now, and the one on my tv. How is it possible to unplug the monitor and then run a wire from my tv and plug it in there is only space for one VGA cord. So I don't know how im going to connect both at the same time so I'm thinking im going to need some kind of switch box.

So you only have one VGA port on your computer? Then that gets a bit more tricky as you need another device, IMO it would be cheaper and better to buy a low-end dedicated video card that supports dual monitors, then you wouldn't need a switch box.
 
If you only have one VGA out, you could just buy another cheap video card... or do as OMEGA said and get a cheap dual out card ($20 = 7300LE, X1550, ect)

Just to say, you don't need a VGA input on your tv, I wired up a dodgy vga to 3 phono to scart combo and it works just fine. Not that it really matters with new flat screens, they've all got vga ports, but meh
