Hello i'm thinking about upgrading my pc but i'm not sure if it would be upgradable, So i'm wanting too find any information i can about my pc too see if i could upgrade it.

What would i need too find and if i posted the said information would anyone tell me if i could upgrade it please.

i know these specs at the moment

CPU: AMD Athlon (Thunderbird core) (1410 MHz)
Memory: 768 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce3/AGP/3DNOW!
OpenGL Version: 1.5.7

mmm how can you know without reading the motherboard it's outdated, yes it is a little bit old but it works fine with me. The only reason i wanna upgrade is because my harddrive is going, so i was gonna get a new hardrive get more Ram add another better graphics card and new cpu.

Oh and by the way i recently updated the Ram too that, started out with just 256MB added another 512. So it must be upgradable too a certain extent.

I would have to know your motherboard model and make to know how far you could go. But the System is old so I would not invest much money in it.

Yeah that system is way to outdated. Your better off buying a new pc as you would end up spending too much on that system just to get it running decent!!

Most likely not over 750MB or so...

I can tell because... 1) GeForce 3 is just... Outdated. We're in the GeForce 9's right now.

2) It's not dual core. And although the Thunderbird is a great processor (I have read many OCed and stock reviews), it is greatly outdated. Also, 512MB will get you nowhere in multitasking or gaming.

You mainly just look at the card and card interface, and processor and its interface.

Well i'm only wanting too upgrade too play Second Life. I'm not looking too play any new games, just playing Second Life, how would i find my motherboard model, if i can find i'll post it on here for you too help me.

I would buy a new pc but all the ones that are not custom built are total crap so i'd sooner build my own but it's so expensive too do that. I have a budget of only £200. These below are reccomended settings not Minimum.

Specs for Second Life.

Processer: 1.5 GHz (XP), 2-GHz (Vista) 32-bit (x86) or better

Ram: 1GB or more

Graphics Card for XP/2000**:

NVIDIA Graphics cards
6000 Series:

* 6600, 6700, 6800

7000 Series:

* 7600, 7800, 7900

8000 Series:

* 8500, 8600, 8800

GeForce Go Series:

* 7600, 7800, 7900

Think you might get away with the min specs to play second life but with 4x agp graphics slot the best you probably get is a 9250 se and for your cpu the best upgrade with only a 266fsb you can get, with the latest bios for the board, is a 2600XP (model no AXDA2600DKV3C) and with your board only managing to use pc2100 RAM is definitely time you upgraded m8

Hi Devious

First i do play SL alot and i get away with playing minumum specs pretty well actually, very few crashes etc.

Next please say what the make of things, i'm not in complete knowledge off all these items so make's would be helpful. I know from asking i can get upto 2GB of ram too work, just need too know what my Motherboard can handle graphics wise. I'm more looking Nvidia than ATI, i don't like ATI it looks shite and SL don't handle very well so what would you say my Motherboard can handle
