First time computer build! Assistance needed!

I'm in the market for a new desktop pc so I thought I would get your opinions on what would fit my needs.

First off, it's going to be an all out video/photo editing pc. With software such as Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and Adobe After Effects. I probably won't play games on it but there's always that chance.
Looking for around 500gb's hard drive. 4 gb of RAM. I'm thinkin I want to go with a single large sized monitor but than again I might want to go with a dual setup, so factor that in with the video card. I want to keep the laptop I have now and set it up so I can syncronize everything I do on the desktop, to the laptop. I don't think that was important but I thought I would mention it anyways. I'm thinking I want to run XP Pro. 64bit. Ummmmmm... OH YEAH, I'm gonna set my price range at $2,000.

Here is a list of what I have picked out so far:
E145-2038 :: EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW Motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 750i, 45nm Support, Socket 775, ATX, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, Gigabit LAN, S/PDIF, USB 2.0, Firewire, Serial ATA, RAID (4 lbs)

P33-5074 :: Patriot Dual Channel Viper 4096MB PC8500 DDR2 1066MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB) (0.15 lbs)

TSD-500AS4 :: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Hard Drive - 7200, 8MB, Serial ATA-300, OEM (1.55 lbs)

E145-8848 :: EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card - KO Edition, 640MB GDDR3, PCI Express, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV (2.4 lbs)

C283-1160 :: Cooler Master RL-EUL-GBU1-GP Aquagate S1 Liquid Cooling System - Socket 775, 754, 939, 940, AM2 (4.6 lbs)

L12-1132 :: Lite-On LH-20A1S SuperAllwrite SATA DVD Burner - 20x DVD±R Burn, 16x DVD±R Read, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD±R DL, 12x DVD-RAM, 48x32x CD-R/RW (2.2 lbs)

H25-GM757 :: HP w2207h 22" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor - 5ms, 1000:1 Static, 1680x1050 (WSXGA+), DVI, VGA, Black (24.7 lbs)

L23-7800 :: Logitech RX300 USB Optical Mouse - OEM, USB, Black, Optical 800 dpi, 3-Button, Tilt Wheel, Vista Ready (0.35 lbs)

Some more questions:
Do I need to buy a sound card with this mb? Also..I want the capibility to use both wireless and ethernet networking. I have a wireless usb adapter already, so if I just buy an ethernet adapter, that will cover the cabled connection..but will my usb wireless adapter plug and play?

Thank you! I very much appreciate your help!

Would you mind explaining to me what's better about that than the one I have built.. I'm an extreeeme n00b to building computers and computer hardware, but I have done my share of research. Or instead of building me a system from scratch, I could use some help changing what I already have picked out.

thanks again!

thanks again!

Some of the things i have recommended are slightly better.

But if you need any help just pm me and i can give you some help.

Why would you recommend a $300.00 MB for overclocking to a noob ? Money could be spent better elsewhere on the build.

Sorry but i'd have to disagree on some of the parts you posted.
Why get a 48X mobo?
There completely overpriced.

I'd recommend this motherboard instead.
Name: EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188024
Price: $259.99

As for the processor why not get the Q9300?
It's the same price and it's 45Nm.
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115043
Price:$279.99

The ram.. overpriced.
I'd recommend this.
Name: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122
Price: $76.99

The hard drive is alright but this one has double cache... and it's the same price..
Name: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148288
Price: $99.99

Why spend so much on a case?
I'd get the antec 900..
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021
Price: $119.99
Hope this helps. :)

Looks good for compatibility. :)
Why are you getting liquid cooling?
Unless your going to overclock stock is more then enough.

Hope this helps. :)

I wasn't sure about the liquid cooling...but I probably will want to overclock to over 3GHz.

Also, Is that video card compatible to run a dual monitor setup?

If this was your system, and you were building it for the same thing I am...what would you do different?

THANKS A LOT! You're helping a ton!

... Do NOT get the GTS. It's a horrible card! VERY outdated. Get the 8800GS or 8800GT. And you're spending a fortune on crap RAM.

Firstly, no problem. :)
Helping is what this forum was created for.. i think :P

Yes it is. As long as the monitors are DVI and not VGA
I would get the antec 900 it's an awesome case for cooling...
Thats about it.. or instead of the 8800GTS i'd get 2 8800Gt's in SLI..

Other then that looks good. :)

Yeah almost forgot.
Get the ram i recommended it's good.
And i believe that G-Skill is one of the best makers of Ram. :cool:

Will I notice much of a difference between 800MHz DDR2 and 1066MHz DDR2? I would like to take full advantage of what this mb can handle. :D

Honestly.
The performance gain is EXTREMELY minimal.
Unless you paid EXTREME attention to everything..
I doubt it would be any better.
It's defiantly not worth the extra $$ though.

Hope this helps. :)

You won't NOTICE a difference at all. Hence my saying "Anything over DDR2-800 is crap"

:)

GSKills is OK, but Corsair FTW!

Awesome...and for the video card. How about 1 of these

EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV

Explain to me the difference between a 1GB and 512mb Video Card...

Thank you!
