EVGA 8800GTS (640) or

Will I really see that much of a difference though? It may have higher ratings right there, but the original 8800GTS has 4x the reviews too which means it still holds strong. I have a Limited 30-Day Warranty with the 8800GTS (I think that means I don't pay re-stocking fees) so I can choose to send in that and buy the new one or just keep what I have.

Is it worth paying shipping to send it back and the extra 10 dollars for the product?

Your GTS has more reviews because it's been out just over a year, the new GTS has been out maybe, 6 months, I don't know.

Anyway, Yeah, It's WELL worth it! The new GTS uses the G92 Core, which is much better.

Well, it's $10 more, but it will be even more than that for me since I would have to pay shipping charges to get my current video card back to Newegg and then buy the new one.

Oh well, I've decided not to do it because there is a re-stocking fee of nearly 40 dollars plus the cost to ship it and then the extra 10 dollars to purchase it. I'll just keep it and kick myself for not doing proper research until I upgrade my computer again.

Thanks for the help.

I'm about to buy the 8800GTS G92, i've been researching it for a LONG time.. have yet to find anything bad about it... besides the standard arrived DOA. but that card.. ~~~~amazing!!! cant wait for mine to show up!!! ill post about it this weekend when i get it up and running to let you know

oh and the fan.. just so u know. is designed to blow air out the back of the Computer instead of dumping it into the case.. kinda cool.

on a side note i was looking at the two cards.

256-bit / Core clock 678MHz/ Memory Clock 1944MHz

320-bit / Core clock 576MHz/ Memory Clock 1800MHz

with these things in mind, the (G92) is the better buy IMO

It's fine. This card is SLI supported so when the time comes that I may need to upgrade because I can no longer run games at max, I will just be able to use it as a boost to a new card.

That IS how SLI works, right? 2 Vid cards connected together to increase rendering performance?

Just found a post about this 8800 SSC 640MB:

"When all is said and done the 8800GTS SSC 640MB (G80) holds its own versus the more popular 8800GT 512MB (G92) and 8800GTS 512MB (G92). Most people confuse this card with the slower and older 8800GTS 640MB cards because of the naming, but the SSC edition is a re-release from EVGA which features unlocked stream processors and higher clock speeds bringing the cards actual SPs to 112 and actual processing speeds on par with its GT counterpart. With its higher speeds and improved memory this card will generally outperform or run neck and neck with a 512MB (G92) GT. And often run neck in neck with the 512MB (G92) GTS, what gives it the edge over the generally more powerful (G92) GTS is the SSC's enhanced memory clock speed, and greater memory bandwith. This card is also a great one for overclocking."
