IDE and SATA

If my Hard Drive used a SATA and my DVD burner used an IDE, would it work properly together?

the only conflict you'll have is if you're using a 40 pin ide cable (non dma mode) and trying to burn at high speeds.

You should try and get a SATA hard-drive.

sata hard drives are faster, and the cords went from monstrous to teeny tiny. smaller then the power cord.
