I was looking around on tiger direct and i found this bare bone kit.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3645858&body=MAIN

This seems like a very nice kit for a reasonable price, but the only thing stopping me from purchasing it is that in the reviews I read for the XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2959594, people have complained that the motherboard have alot of problems. Could anyone confirm this? Does anyone disapprove of me from buying this kit? All help would be appreciated. :)

Well, I'm getting it. But I'm getting a whole computer (all nescesairy parts) and the computer shop is going to build it for me as well as install windows. So if the motherboard doesn't work they will just take another one.

I'd suggest you do the same if possible (I live in the Netherlands here we can let people build computers for you with certain shops, I'm not sure if Tigerdirect does that though).

I,m not approving or disapproving just letting you know that XFX and EVGA motherboards are made by Foxconn. Foxconn makes (some) good quality boards but others a just plain crap. So its a 50-50 thing.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest, how much would you recommend it? I'm struggling to decide between this or the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L

is it the brand or the chipset difference that you are considering? or both?

i personally have the evga 680i, but i have lots of experince with the gigabyte p35. if you arent using SLI, definitely go for the gigabyte, if only because it will save you so much money.

the price and SLI capabilities is what's making me indecisive. I probably wont SLI in the future, but I would like the option to SLI in case I ever decide to. I'm probably going to buy the Gigabyte, but I thought if I heard a compelling argument as to why I should get the 680i, I might buy it instead.

from a scale from 1 - 10 i'd give it an 8 :D only problem i've had with this board is that both my ram sticks from OCZ won't work when their both on but when only one stick is in it's fine so i'd suggest getting Crosair ram

I have had no problems with mine. I've only ever gotten intel boards in the past, but I decided to get an Nvidia. I hadn't heard of XFX before actually, but heard it was good. I've had mine for a few months. I like using it for overclocking too. It's easy to use.
As long as you don't mind having to hit F1 everytime you boot up, to get past the settings screen, it's fine. I didn't have to do that with intel boards, but i don't mind it. It lets me know that everything's working fine and makes it easier to get into the bios when I want to make a change.

Good thing I am letting the shop build it and install windows O.O I'm getting OCZ ram, if I would've built it myself it would've never worked and I'd have to get new ram O.O

We'll see if it works, I'm expecting it will :)

Ah well :)

I think it's because I don't have a floppy disk. It shows everything as working, but says that the floppy disk is missing. I never thought twice about it being a problem. I've gotten used to it showing me my system specs.
Besides that I don't have any functionality problems, so I'd recommend the mobo.
