In need of Anti-virus Software

I have been using the free AVG anti-virus software for quite some time now. From what I understand, the free updates that it has been offering will come to an end on May 31. As a result, I am now in need of anti-virus protection for my PCs. Preferably, I would like to find some free software. Does anyone have any advice?

^^ I disagree! I just un-installed avast b/c it seems to be using way too much cpu usage than it should. I changed to nod32 and im never going back. Nod32 is a very lightweight antivir and works good. Avast has way too many processes and hogs your cpu way too much.

Avast is a great antivirus program. Also look for antivir. Also a nice program. Nod32 is the best out there, no doubt. Really technical, but very useful nonetheless.

also, i'm not sure, but i'm almost positive that the may 31st deadline thing, that's for you to upgrade to AVG free 8.0. You must be still running AVG 7 to get stuck in that scenario.

Nod32 technical? Nope

I just checked and it appears that Intel_man is correct. AVG 8.0 is free. For the time being, it would probably be my best bet since I am quite familiar with the software already.

2 questions:

(1) Is it best to uninstall and delete my current AVG software (AVG 7.5) before downloading and installing 8.0?

(2) I have 2 laptops and spend a lot of time using a mobile internet card while away from home. Would AVG be my best bet or should I consider changing?
