OK, so i'm new here, and i'm not that great with computers but was looking to build a very nice gaming computer. So far, I have only built 3 computers, mine (low end gaming), my uncles (same), and my moms, (just for web surfing and paying bills). This time I really wanted to try to go all out! The parts I was thinking of are:

ASUS Striker II Extreme

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 Yorkfield 3.2GHz (I will hopefully overclock)

2 XFX GeForce 9800 GX2 (With 700MHz core clock & 2100MHz memory clock)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium fatal1ty Professional

Crucial Ballistix 2 x 1GB DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000)

Sony 4X Blu-ray DVD Burner

ABS Tagan BZ series 1300W modular power supply

case???

Can anyone suggest a really good case and maybe some parts changes if there is anything you know of that is better? Help is greatly appreciated! :)
(Hopefully my mom will let me buy all of this!! Seeing that I won't technically be considered an adult for about 3 more years, I still have to listen to my mom)

change the RAM to DDR2 800 or 1066 and make it 4gb's

you don't have a Hard Disk Drive selected. :P i'll let someone else pick that out since i know very little about them.

I believe everything needs reworking because it seems he just selected the most expensive everything. He can easily get a great gaming system for a fraction of the cost.

i was thinking he would've wanted a future proof build. it's his call. :P

ummm, budget doesn't really matter, this will be my last system for a while. Or at least till I get a job that can buy better.

And sorry, I totally spaced on the HDD, but I was thinking at least 10,000 RPM WD Raptor or maybe even an 15,000 RPM HP. I definately want a fast machine!

Oh, and I didn't choose the parts cause they are expensive, I chose them cause from what I have seen and read, they are super fast and top of the line.

wrong area really.... can we get a mod to move it to desktop PCs....

uumm....

DDR2 ram as said above....

what sort of case do you want??? a nice looking one???

and if budget is no problem for the the Q6600 Quad Core.

Wrong area on what exactly?? And why DDR2 RAM, isn't DDR3 newer and faster??? The Case doesn't matter a whole lot, anything that keeps it all very cool and looks good (I am a fan of Blue leds). Also, why do you recommend the Q6600??

DDR3 sticks are way expensive and offer little performance increase from DDR2 so it's not worth it.

Hey jnskyliner34, I pretty much am too. But I mainly just look for the two different speeds, and I read reviews. That OCZ can be liquid cooled which is one reason why I like it. But I don't know. I'm not that experienced with computers, I have only gotten into them in the past 2 to 3 years maybe.

well i'm only 1 year experienced and don't know everything about them. in the meantime while nobody has suggested a good brand and model of RAM, why don't you read the threads under the Memory section and see what the other members suggested to get to others that needed help in picking out which memory to get. ;)

I think I will check out the other threads. Thanks. I am very new to this site and i'm still tryin to figure everythin out.
