My dell xps m1710 is bugging hardcore. I have phoned dell andf they don't know the problem.

Heres the jist.

everytime i play a game on my laptop (assasins creed, crysis) i can play it for about 10 minutes and it runs perfect, But then just suddenly it will shut down and show this error message.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

(blue screen)

*** HARDWARE MALFUNCTION

call your hardware vendor for support

NMI: PARITY CHECK / Memory Parity Error

*** THE SYSTEM HAS HALTED ***

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And then all i can do after that is shutdown my computer by holding the power button. And it starts up fine asking me to start it normally or w/e and i do and its fine just doing normal things. But everytime i play a game that happens.

Please help i am so choked that my comp might be messed up :(

You might have a virus;

Post a Hijackthis Log

  • Download Hijackthis from here
  • Open Hijackthis
  • Click on "Do a system Scan Only"
  • Click on "save log"
  • A notepad window will open
  • Hit Ctrl + A
  • Copy + paste in a forum reply

Then we can go from there.

I'll let one of the other guys help here as i'm not to good with these.... i just get people to post them :P so they are ready for a mod when they come along :D:):P

Assuming that this:
O23 - Service: PnkBstrA - Unknown owner - C:\Windows\system32\PnkBstrA.exe
is punkbuster I personally don't see any problems.
My guess is that it is a driver issue with your graphics card. The other possibility is that the problem is exactly what microsoft thinks, and you have some broken hardware, but hey how often is microsoft correct? :P

Are you under warranty? If I were in your situation, I would back up the hard drive, and get it repaired or replaced. Only if no one here can help you though.

i would but my dvd drive doesnt read disks... it works but when i put the disk in and push it back in the green light flashes but no disk registers ... so thats why i came here

OK, well i think there is someway you can load the ISO file onto a USB stick and run windows installtion of that.... g25racer i think knows a little bit about that.

Do not fix this!! This is for online game play and is needed. My guess is your issue is a bad ram stick. Take each ram stick out one by one until your system is running good and with no errors.

If you must know how to install from usb here is a link on how to do so. It is a long process though.

I have no idea what is the problem, all I know is it's not a virus. Blue screen of death usually comes when some hardware dies, or a driver is outdated/corrupted.

If the computer service company couldn't help, I'm sure some hardware genius will come here and help you. ( There are a few ).

I didn't say to get rid of it, I said if he has punkbuster not to worry about it.
