nVidia GeForce 7600 GS

nope. if you'll be planning on playing crysis, that won't cut it. you'll have to play it on all low at 800x600.

Crysis aside, low-medium for most newer games. It's gets easier going further back, The Witcher would play great with higher than medium settings, Call of Juarez medium with good FPS, Company of Heroes Medium High, Team fortress 2 close to high with acceptable FPS, etc.

The 1650xt is too close to consider an improvement, the 8600gts is better, but verges on the price point that can buy much better cards. The 8800gs for example, $90 after MIR, would blow all these cards away.

An improvement over the 7600gs, is what I meant.

That 8600gts is nice though, I didn't look at the price till now. Definitely the card to pick if OP can't go over $120..

I currently have a 7600 gs and even on low at bottom resolution it stutters too much to able play crysis that is halfway enjoyable

Hey, don't be hatin' on my 7600GS. Of course, the only game I play anymore is Team Fortress 2 and I run it at 1360x768 with everything on high and still get 40-50FPS. I really need an upgrade :( Maybe I'll get a new PC soon...

hey, i've heard of a NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GS Graphics card with 256 mb of memory and it has hd capabilities. would it be able to play crysis?

On the Nvidia side of things, to play Crysis well on higher settings, you will probably want a Geforce 9600GT or better. Just my 2 cents.

if i put it on high (Xp Pro) with the setup in my sig i barely get 10fps on crysis

With your specs, you should be getting higher than that. More like 35fps or similar. I know you only have 2GB of memory, but that shouldn't drop your fps down to 10. As far as I know, having XP vs Vista shouldn't drop your fps like that in Crysis. From what I've heard, having XP only caps your graphical settings in-game to High. Could be wrong.

it makes a huge difference, vista renders in DX10, XP in DX9.

Still though, he is right about your FPS being lowish. Unless you're running with AA, AF, high res.. 8800gt can't handle all that and Crysis, but that's abit obvious.

yeah, i put AA on usually 4x, and i play at 1600x1050 res, which is native for my monitor.
