Vista on old systems

I have seen Vista run on an Eee pc so I guess its possible but, the likelyhood of finding drivers is slim to nil.

Im going to be running Vista on a Pentium III 850MHz - 512MB PC100 RAM - 40GB 4200RPM HDD next week.

On that computer why not trying linux. Maybe something like xubuntu. The most you'll get out of it is an internet word processing machine anyway.

Could vista be installed on an overclocked i486(~166Mhz) with 256MB EDO SIMM RAM (I think that is the max), 20GB harddrive (could be lager if you had it), CD/DVD-ROM drive? I'm talking about a rocking old system!

I know win9x can, what about ME, win2k, XP?

Why even bother?
