My next build should have one of those beasts inside... I'll be waiting until 2010 for another build though

Surely that would gain more performance?

Maybe i just dont understand enough how a cpu works...or maybe Heat is the issue to why they cant do that but thats what im thinking atm.

There is a point to which we can't supply enough energy to make a CPU run at a faster speed, but more cores makes things less efficient and so eventually we won't be able to raise clock speeds and we won't be able to add more cores. What then, my guess is just to make CPU's more efficient per clock but after that I have no idea.

Im sure there will be a massive breakthrough before they reach all the extremes.... My thoughts are that they will invent a nano processor that litterally has like 1 or 2 million little say 200mhz cores lol. Thats 2000000ghz lol.

Facepalm to people who bought i7 975's. Seriously, SIX cores? And it operates at 2.4Ghz which will be improved by the release.

In my opinion it isn't good to spend more than $400 on a central processing unit presently. I've heard high priced processors drop 50% in price after about one year after their initial release.

The new six core processors look very impressive. (And I'm thinking about upgrading to a tri-core processor within the next year. :))

Only the i7 920s are really worth it. Otherwise you're paying 100s more for tiny little features that don't impress anyone except Intel...
