Microsoft HoloLens - A glimpse of the future..

True. What's more impressive is that all prototype VR devices we've seen recently are just a taste of potential first generation consumer VR technology. As always and with any tech device, improvements to function and design are expected in the coming years. I hate to bring about tacky...

Microsoft HoloLens - A glimpse of the future..

First the Oculus Rift, then Sony's Morpheus, now Windows. Virtual reality is the new reality. Could be exciting...or scary.:D

Post A Pic Of Your Pc Here :)

Both of my puters are located on opposite sides of the house, facing windows so I can absentmindedly stare out into the forest if need be. :good:

    What's Your Typing Speed?

My dad still suffers from hen-peck syndrome...even sixteen years later.

    Audio Dilemma

Reformatted the HDD and re-installed a fresh copy of Win7. Fixed the problem. How strange...

    Audio Dilemma

The device manager says that the driver is working properly, but it isn't. So I disabled then enabled it. No go. Uninstalled and reinstalled it. No go. The system troubleshooter fails to save the changes at the end of execution as well...so, not sure if the problem is rooted deeper than just the...

    Audio Dilemma

Ok, this is literally how it all went down. I unplugged my laptop from its usual station and moved it over to the dining room table so my wife can listen to music. It was playing just fine before I shut down the system. Now it doesn't. It doesn't even recognize there is any audio device...

    What's Your Typing Speed?

Have to agree with that one. Choose an easy test if you must, but at the very minimum complete a 3 minute test. Typing for 1 minute straight isn't all too uncommon for most people. :good: :)

    What's Your Typing Speed?

So - how many of you are formidable key-tappers? Post your typing speed below. I've used TypingTest.com as a test source. Anything below three minutes cannot be considered a serious attempt. Most skilled typing tests you pay to take are at least 3 minutes long. Mine: English, 3 minutes, The...

What Is Your PC/Laptop's Boot Time?

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned that it is compatible up to Win7. I've never had the issue of Toolwiz Care popping out a defunct boot time. So...96 hours, huh? Your 'puter all right? lol :D

    Linux Ubuntu

Wouldn't count on it. Why not keep a Windows install on a separate partition so you can switch back and forth when needed? That would get rid of any compatibility issues Win programs have running in Wine or VBox. :) EDIT: Since the subject of Office came up, why not try the free WPS Office...

What Is Your PC/Laptop's Boot Time?

I went a-searchin' for a topic like this and didn't happen to see one. I apologize in advance if in fact there has already been a thread created in the past asking users to post their system(s) boot time(s). I use the maintenance platform Toolwiz Care to keep my Inspirion desktop and Latitude...

    Show off your speed

Those tiers looked tempting so I checked whether or not Comcast offered service in this area. Unfortunately that's a no go.

    Show off your speed

Thank you for the great explanation, Geoff. It's just breaks my heart every time I need to open up the FTP client. There is not a single TWC consumer internet package in this area that offers a fairly noticeable change in upload speed. Relative to the price jump, those speed adjustments are...

    Show off your speed

Why do service providers place such severe bandwidth restrictions on upload speeds for consumer packages? Business class on the other hand is an entirely different matter. I pay for up to 15MB/s and rarely get that. They must like me today because they got paid. :)

REQUEST - Please advise on a business PC build

I really like it when you reply to my threads, voyager. You're a beastly compendium of computer-based knowledge. I do remember somebody saying that AMD's processors at face value seem like a great option with speeds running up into the high 4 GHz to the low 5 GHz speeds, but to expect to drop...

REQUEST - Please advise on a business PC build

Thanks for the quick reply. Cost will always play a major role in any business investment. The struggle is finding the right balance between what one can afford and what to expect from any system built on a limited budget. I'm fairly amazed that with the AMD CPU you were able to virtually chop...

How do you know so much about computers?

I've read many reviews on the nVidia Quadro card that came with those systems and Intel admitted that they were all destined to keel-over. Anybody that I have ever spoken to about the Latitude-D series said that the Intel chipset sucks but it is still better than the Quadro. They could be wrong...
