    stereo recievers

On the speakers... it recommends you get a 175 watt amplifier. The 360 watts is the peak power the speakers can handle for a short amount of time, such as a heavy bass hit. However, if you pass 360 watts through these speakers all the time, it could damage them.

Oh my bad, I guess I didn't look and see it was PCI-e. In that case, I'd suggest an X600 Pro, but a 6600GT isn't much more and performs much better.

Yeah, XP 64-bit still has quite a few holes in it... you'd be better off just getting the 32-bit now and upgrading next year when Vista comes out.

    Dos over Windows XP

Well, if all your hard drive is partitioned for Windows XP, you won't be able to put DOS on it without reformatting your drive. If you have some unpartitioned space, or a different hard drive, you could put DOS on that separately from your Windows XP partition.

    stereo recievers

Okay, from what I know, since your receiver is 6.1, it has channels for six surround speakers, along with one subwoofer (the .1). Since your speakers are capable of 175 watts, they would be able to pump out more sound if you upgraded your receiver, however, you would not want to hook your 100...

    reworking motherboard

I had a Celeron 400 that had the exact same problem. Sometimes it wouldn't boot up at all, but other times it would boot and work just dandy. Through the testing I did, I found out the problem is either with your motherboard or processor, most likely motherboard.
