So I decided to build another LGA775 system: E8500

this thing overclocks effortlessly When I have time I'll see what it can do with an aftermarket CPU cooler. For now it is doing well with the OEM c2d cooler.

I have a Vapochill just hanging out in case I need to do some serious cooling.:D

So I decided to build another LGA775 system: E8500

Ah ok I'll check it out later. I will probably wait until I get my new PSU and a good CPU heatsink before doing extensive testing. My PC&P 750W Silencer and TRUE are doing their duties on the i7 build at the moment, which is crunching at 100% for World Community Grid 24/7.

So I decided to build another LGA775 system: E8500

Not sure what a VID is. Can you explain what it is to me? As for 5 GHz, that's my goal. I hit 4.68 GHz on my old C0-stepping E8400, so I figure this E0-stepping E8500 will be a little better at clocking. I will see what is possible later on when I have time. Right now I'm getting my last...

So I decided to build another LGA775 system: E8500

I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I may replace the TRUE on my i7 with a copper TRUE or something else and pass it down to the E8500. Right now I'm looking at a prolimatech megalems (not sure if I spelled it right) that goes for about 60 bucks.

So I decided to build another LGA775 system: E8500

yeah that's what I plan to do when running benchmarks or playing games that benefit from crossfire.

So I decided to build another LGA775 system: E8500

I picked up an ASUS P5Q Pro mobo for 70 bucks+ shipping, some G.Skill DDR21066 for about 32 shipped and an E8500 from a jevery, a good guy on here, for 100 shipped. As the story goes, I have 3 HD3870's laying around, so I put one of them in for now (later I will get another good PSU and run a...

Blue screened at 3.4GHz on Core i7, need help!

1.35 vcore should be good for what you have. I left all my settings on auto other than the vcore and the ram voltage to get 191x21 24/7 stable overclock. I run 1.35 vcore and leave the machine crunching 24/7 at 100% CPU usage

    my new i7 build???

The stock voltages will only allow you to overclock a little bit. You will have to increase some of the voltages if you want to do some serious overclocking.

i got the superclocked one for 150 shipped and the other one for 112 shipped. I run both of them at the clock speed of the superclocked one (756MHz) on a daily basis.

If I remember correctly they were around 760. I'm really happy with the results of these old, outdated cards for sure. Since I've been in school I try to build systems with budget in mind. I guess it's part of being trained as an engineer to always look for the cheapest way to get the job...

    WTB: Core2Duo 45nm - Any Clock

I have an i7, but I also have extra RAM, PSU, mobo, video cards, etc... laying around. I just have no good LGA775 CPU anymore to use, that is until I get my newly purchased E8500. IMO 100 is a pretty nice price, especially considering the potential of this chip.

I was trying to take the top spot yesterday with my 3 HD3870's, but it seems like only two of them would run in crossfire. I'm pretty sure 3 of these cards can run in CF, but I'm not sure if my mobo can do it or how to get it working yet.

I managed to get a lil bit more out of my rig with some fine tuning. I was shooting for 26k but I need to finish up some school work before class.
