Torn about Building New PC for Gaming

RealTemp is good, but personally I still use HWMonitor, since it's shows a ton more general information. Voltages, temp of motherboard, GPU, HDDs etc. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Torn about Building New PC for Gaming

First I want to address overclocking and wear; not once have I had a CPU die. AMD or Intel. I still have Q6600 [email protected] and my Phenom 2 555 [email protected] today. My i7-2600K [email protected] still runs too. You just have to be responsible with the voltage, and usually you can squeeze quite a few hundred...

    How to install Windows 10

That does sound a little like being forced tbh :) I haven't seen or used OneDrive since Windows 7, maybe 8, were the most current OS. I remember it creating a folder called OneDrive in your user root, alongside of Downloads, Documents etc. and being contained there. I could imagine the Win10...

    How to install Windows 10

Some of the first things I do on a fresh install are uninstall OneDrive and disable all notifications. Not once have I been bothered by or felt forced to use OneDrive. All doable via GUI, no need for Shutup10 for this.

    Is This iMac Worth it?

Assuming you want a Mac and that it's in a fine working condition, that doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. I looked at the used market in Denmark, and they range from $1300 to $2400.

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

In a perfect world with perfectly synced frames, 60 FPS on a 60Hz display would have no input lag. But that's not the world we live in. More frames, more dense frame array and a more updated frame will be chosen for each Hz. That's pretty objective, however minimal it may seem. And indeed...

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

So I just got a reply back from my friend, a former low-tier pro, and the simple response is input lag from your mouse. It's related to frame times, more FPS = more up-to-date frames. We're talking milliseconds, which is why a casual won't notice (like myself) but also why it matters for...

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

Except for one graph, with a heavily overclocked i5, Intel is winning all those frame time graphs. I tried finding graphs from GN with the same CPUs across different games, but gave up since I was (and am) at work and it took too long. As for updating drivers and optimization, sure they keep...

i7-720QM: Q3'09 HD5650M: Q3'10 The WoW I'm playing: 2005 and 2007. CSGO: August 21, 2012 I doubt CSGO not being 'optimized' for a 2.8GHz Intel CPU and AMD dGPU that's two years older, to the point where 30 FPS above the screen Hz is unenjoyable. Not sure where NVIDIA comes in to the picture...

    PC upgrade - gaming

Imagine calling AMD an inferior brand and gross in 2019 :D As for OP: I would try and save up more money for a platform upgrade, since the only options available would be very bad value/$, unless you are willing to find and buy a used i7-4770k. But even if you could find it at $100, I'd still...

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

On my main PC I've played with everything at 60hz from 1024x768 to 2560x1440, highest and lowest settings, never with V-Sync though. Always 250-450 FPS and I've never had an issue. I'm turbocasual though. On my laptop however, i7-720QM with an HD5650M it feels laggy and choppy with everything on...

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

He has a 144 or 165 hz, but more importantly look up Frame Times. You can have 60 FPS but still be laggy on a 60hz display. I have not heard one actually good CS player say anything below 300 FPS is acceptable, afaik it's something with the engine. I can personally attest that 90 FPS feels...

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

My friend with 3-4000 hours in CSGO dropped from ~350 to ~250 FPS (on Windows) going from an Intel 6700K to a Ryzen 7 2700X, which he wasn't too happy about. But he can live with it, since his Gentoo compiles about 2-3x faster now.

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

As the "personal IT guy" for a lot of IRL friends and online guilds, I've seen a big rise in people complaining about low FPS, with all of them having these 3.3-3.7GHz i5's from 4th gen and up. But there's rarely an upgrade path I'd consider anywhere near worth, since Ryzen has been "low"...

    Ryzen2 3000 Series Specs Revealed

I've got my eyes on that 3700X. Even adjusted for local taxes (+25%) it's spot on the price of a 2700X and about $100 cheaper than a i7-9700K.

I7 7700K shud i get an z270 motherboard or h270 (not planing to oc)

The i7-7700K is exactly two years old today. Of course hardware prices can differ, especially for older tech, but according to Intel the i7-9700K is about $20 more and much superior in every way (Cores and GHz) Unless you find a really good deal on the 7700K, if you're buying brand new you...

    The best burner

Rufus for single ISO bootable USBs, and YUMI for multi-ISO booting. The ISO downloader supports downloading straight to USB, but I prefer having the ISO on hand and doing it myself. Else you'd need to download the ISO again if your USB got messed up.

    To OC or not to

If you apply a good overclock, I've yet to see any CPU actually die from extended use. My [email protected] is still rocking the same overclock I applied early 2011. No signs of any wear. A 6700K, based on my own experience with two of them, easily overclock to 4.5GHz on all cores at around stock...
