    weird xp crash?

fix master boot record BUT on second thought dont do it. I meant to say Recovery console not repair console. It fixed my problem when I had a dual boot os and removed linux. It wouldn't boot into windows. Like I said, Don't Do What I orignaly said. Go ahead and do a Repaire Install. I don't want...

    weird xp crash?

I maybe off here, as I'm no guru, but I don't think it would hurt. Can you boot into the repair console and at the dos prompt, type FXMBR. Bronson7

HELP - Computer failure - Motherboard needs replacement?

Hmmmmm. Perhaps your motherboard battery is going dead. Batteries are cheap. Put in a new one. You'll clear cmos when you do, so you'll have to configure the bios for optimum (or to your liking). You could be dumping your bios settings. Oops, forgot to ask you: Are you getting a checksum error...

    Motherboard sound not working

You didn't say, but have you tried unplugging your front header and then try your rear jacks? Page 24 of your manual has a note (indicated by a little hand) that may be of interest. It specifically addresses the MIC but may also affect other functionality. Worth a shot. Bronson7

If you look very closely at the connectors, you'll see a small arrow head molded in to the connector. This is positive (+). Bronson7

Bizarre computer turning on and off (mystery problem)

I've never placed a whole lot of faith in those led testers. Best to take voltage readings right off the backside of the 20/24 plug while it's hooked up to the board and under load. Bronson7

can anyone find me a case?

Here's a very nice one for the money + enough left to contribute toward a good PSU. I like it because it has NO door(s) on the front, which to me is useless as tits on a bull and a royal pita. I've built two rigs using it and my wife just bought me another for Christmas. Plenty of room and...

    New DSL Sloooow Upload

Hi Gang, I just had DSL installed yesterday and I'm a bit disappointed in it. My package is 512/256. Tried uploading a pic to a host site and it took much longer than I thought. Speed tests are showing (SpeakEasy) 506/106. Another Speed test I ran (can't remember which) was around 375/65. I've...

    A sachet of Silica Gel

I don't believe it would be of any benefit at all. Too much air circulating. Those are meant to be placed in closed containers to get rid of moisture in only the air that's in the closed box, etc. Your use is not for its intended purpose. It would have to remove moisture in the whole...

    Problem With Updating Windows XP

Many, many folks have had problems installing SP2. I had the same problem as you. What I did was slipstream the SP2 cd into XP. Do a goole on it. I used a slick little program called AutoStreamer. http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=223562 Worked slick as heck and it will be much...

    ? about building comp's

I have to tell you, there are few things more satisfying than building your first computer. I built my first 2 1/2 years ago, and have since built four more for family members, all of which work great. You can do it, like others have said if you take your time. If you're uncertain about...

Re-seating memory is good troubleshooting practice for mem issues and no, you won't loose info on your hard drive if you loose a mem module(s). Looks like your problem was just an improperly seated module. Bronson7
