    Help teacher make online class

Hi, I think that the ideal piece of software for what you are after would be moodle, from http://moodle.org/ It allows you to set work online, and students can upload their work. All you need is a web host/server with PHP & MySQL support, the school that I go to uses it and it is pretty good...

    Box PHP

The best way (and nicest way) to do this would be through Ajax, I learnt it recently from this tutorial: http://peter.hybridweb.co.uk/blog/2006/09/27/building-your-first-ajax-application-with-php/ and a follow up to that is...

    Free Web hosting?

A problem with free hosting is it's lock of reliability though, and you will get a domain like mysite.myfreehost.com or myfreehost.com/mysite, and with it being free there are no gaurantees or anything, I would reccomend a cheap shared package such as dreamhost, admittedly it will cost you more...

    Boot Time Anti VIrus

I think avast can be configured to do a boot time scan, if you open it up the go Settings>Schedule boot time scan, then it will scan your PC the next time you start it up

old dog looking for a new trick

Office 97 works with XP doesn't it? I'm pretty sure I've used it before. And since he only uses Word and Excel; http://www.openoffice.org/ may be worth a try, rather than spending a load of money on an Office suite, which could be best spent on better hardware. If you want a laptop then...

    Need new website host, suggestions?

http://dreamhost.com/ Is very good, it is cheaper than what you are currently paying, but has lot's more stuff. There are cheaper, but you get lot's of flexibility and shell access, so you can fiddle if you want. Also if you want mroe money off use max97 to get $97 off when you pay for a year...

    Upload speed > download speed

Also you shouldn't really expect a constant speed from a Public AP, as it is most likely free, and, well, you get what you pay for, so if you want a faster connection you may be better off paying for your internet connection

How do you find the host of a website or forum?

ENOM is their domain registrar, so who they pay for the domain, the hosts site is more likely to be http://interspeed.com/ since that is where the nameservers are, although you could always ping the domain name, and go to the IP address to see if that goes to a hosts site

    web site creator.

I would also suggest nvu, I would be using it right now instead fo dreamweaver, although Nvu automatically adds HTML tags to every document, which is no good for PHP files in some cases. But for just standard HTML it is excellent

    Folder locking program

What OS are you using, in XP I think you can do it by setting up security, right click on the folder>properties>Security tab, then click the user you want to disallow, click edit, and check deny on all the boxes. Not sure if this is available on XP home though, also those instructions may not...

    Would Vista Run

I've had vista running for 15 days, never once has it crashed, I'm fine with A/V using avast, firefox is willingly the default browser, and the only compatability issue i've had is with Aptana. On my computer it is running pretty well, admittedly it takes a little longer than XP to start up...

Addicted to HD space! - I have a problem...

I like space, i kinda have space, but not in multiple locations, my computers 200 gig HDD has 152 gb free, of 189 formatted space. But it keeps making weird noises, so at the moment i am obsessed with backing up, to an 80 gig HDD, in an external caddy. Then my laptop has about 30 gig, but the...
