I finally got my TRUE and now I'm trying to push my CPU to at least 3.4Ghz. Well I can get it stable at 3Ghz with a voltage of 1.325 but if I increase the FSB any more windows won't start at all. Is there anything else I should change than the FSB and CPU voltage?

Hmm so all are just disabled just to be a dual core or could you get one that has 1 or 2 bad cores?

Aren't almost all, if not all X2's just dual cores or do they turn some X4's with bad cores into X2's? And if you really want to chance being able to unlock a core go for an X3.

I know and the one I ordered has a fan with it and a higher quality fan bracket, not that the bracket is that important but everyone thinks I'm getting just a TRUE and no fan. Also I believe it comes with a bracket to put it on an i7 processor.

I was told that adding a fan to the TRUE makes the performance go way up than just the heatsink itself. My friend has two fans on his and his Q6600 is stock and it runs 40C max load.

On newegg I got each of my evga GTX 285's for $344 (regular ones) with a $20 rebate and the regular EVGA GTX 295 was $589 so the price difference for the EVGA models is over $200.

I was told that linux has a lot more support for ATI cards than Nvidia. They might not support the newest or highest end cards but if you aren't gaming you could look into an older card that should be supported. And yes, a PCI-E 2.0 X16 card will fit and work in a PCI-E 1.0 X16 slot.

They used to have a fanless version on frozencpu for the same prices of the ones that just a noob linked me to. Mine comes with a fan and a fan bracket. Quite expensive being $20 more but being thermaltake I'm sure the fan will be good.

Depends on how far you want to take it. If I recall correctly a 285 is pretty close to a 295, but a lot cheaper. And if you want two 295's you'll be looking at over $1000, and for that money you could get three 285's that would beat two 295's.

Just ordered it last night. The one I ordered comes with a fan and a bracket. Should arrive early next week and then I'll be ready to push my Q6600 passed the 3Ghz mark. I forgot to order thermal paste though so I'll be picking up what ever bestbuy has to offer >_>...

Well my dad's friend works at a state building here as a technician and he sees people using the optical drive bay as a cup holder so it would be useful there. I might get one though so that I don't have to worry about dumping a drink on my desk.

I think you should look at a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme instead. It's cheaper and performs much better. But if you really want a V8 I suppose I can look around and try to help.

I'm still appalled at the fact that they will charge $120 for a freaking update when it's actually out. $50 should be the standard price and the full version should be $120. Money hosing bastards.

But at what price? SSD is better than 15k and lower RPM HDD's but are a hell of a lot more. I'm looking for a good balance of price and performance. Does anyone think a 10k or 15k RPM drive be worth it to boot up an OS?
