    best laptop under $500?

The laptop would just be for general use. I might do some photoshop on it, and some light rendering. No gaming. I've been looking at a few here: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-15-6-inch-Performance-Touchscreen-Processor/dp/B0197Z2MN6/?tag=tdrvr-20...

    Overwhelmed with info

Not really a set price range. Obviously the cheaper the better, but I want quality internet. So whatever will work with my speeds (plus room for an upgrade), and provide reliability. So is the difference between the two routers I have listed, the standard? The first one says "IEEE...

    Overwhelmed with info

I'm going to be moving into my first apartment soon, so I've been researching everything I can about home networking. There's just so much info out there, I'm overwhelmed. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. I would like to have a wired connection for...

    reference model for 480?

Yeah, I had already decided against selling my 970 once the benchmarks of the 480 were leaked. Came to the same conclusion you guys did, too similar. Wouldn't have been worth the upgrade.

    reference model for 480?

I suppose that might be an option. That's really the only beef I have with amd atm. If only the 1060 were already out, it'd solve all my problems. EDIT: Also, where are you finding a 1070 for $379?

    reference model for 480?

I have the money, but would it be worth getting the better gpu (for recording while playing a game) when amd's gvr drops the fps more than shadowplay does?

    reference model for 480?

On second thought, I have a new question, although feel free to answer the first one as well. Should I spend the time to upgrade to a 480 from a 970 in the first place? I like having geforce experience and shadow play. I know amd has their gvr, but it creates more performance degradation than...

    reference model for 480?

Will the rx 480 reference model suffice, or would it be worth it to wait for custom models? I already decided to sell my gtx 970 before they slash the price too much, and I'll be out of a graphics card until I get my 480. Not sure I'm patient enough to wait.

    Which build is better?

Depends on what you plan on doing with the computer. $600 is a decent chunk of money, and not everyone is a massive enthusiast that's so pretentious they'll only buy a pc that costs at least $1000. (No implication intended)

Looking for advice on a new build for a friend

Reworked the build a bit based on the suggestions given. It's a little more expensive, but it's got some SERIOUS bang for the buck. It's still under the budget he gave me, so this will probably be his build as long as he's into it. Here it is: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/mj3PxY Contrary to what...

Looking for advice on a new build for a friend

He didn't give me a time frame, but I'd imagine he doesn't want to wait too long. Would these new boards be any more expensive, or cause the fm2 boards to be less expensive? And I'm about an hour away from a microcenter. Also, I'm not going to be using any apu so why would that matter?

Looking for advice on a new build for a friend

but wouldn't that basically just bottleneck the rest of the build? The tests I run on game-debate seem to think it will be fine for moderate gaming.

Looking for advice on a new build for a friend

He really hasn't given me any specifics on gaming (I'll ask), but it seems to perform fine when I test the system on game-debate.com. This is the result testing Black Ops 3, and I doubt he'd even be playing games this resource intensive...

Looking for advice on a new build for a friend

My friend came to me to put together a good PC for him. I have some experience in building computers, but I in no way claim to be an expert on it. So I always come back here for advice and review of any systems I'm looking to build before I make any big purchases. Here's the build I have for...

Really messed up soldering - PLEASE HELP

Yeah I found out about solder suckers after I posted this, I was gonna go pick one up after later today. One question though, once I remove the solder, I just resolder the point? Will the solder still attach to it? Thanks for your help guys.

Really messed up soldering - PLEASE HELP

So I was modding my gameboy advance to have a backlight, everything was going good until I got to the soldering part. I went in over my head, and ****ed up. This picture illustrates what I did wrong: The red shows where there should be separate soldering points, but unfortunately I combined...

    Sufficient PSU?

Alright, I'm going to buy a PSU for him. I'm thinking EVGA 600b or cx600, which is better, or would you recommend something else?
