    Windows 7 install

Can you read the Win7-CD with Windows Explorer and what does it tell you ? Your Win7-CD might be damaged, your CD-drive is good and your Autorun = ON I can read my WinXP-CD with Windows Explorer.

    Windows 7 install

This means that Autorun is OFF in winXP, you have to turn it ON or you have to click on the installation-file manually on CD.

    Windows 7 install

I would check the boot-sequence in BIOS. The sequence has to be : CD first and then harddisk. The actual first sequence is probably harddisk, that's not good, because it will boot from the harddisk (WinXP)

    learning more as i go

I agree, I've done it myself. Besides the online activation is limited even when there is no hardware-change, after that only a phone-activation is possible. You better install winXP, activate it and do a backup and then you can re-install it (= restore) over and over again.

Is it safe to manually delete the contains inside temp folder?

If you have the required knowledge to remove them manually, not really a solution for housewifes. ;)

    RegistryBooster

You are talking about a group of users, that like malware to keep them busy. They don't care about infections, they even install malware on their computer on purpose to see what happens and which security software detects/removes it and which one doesn't. And then they have something to write...

Is it safe to manually delete the contains inside temp folder?

Keep in mind, that malware hides itself everywhere on your computer, not just temporary files. Malware keeps you busy and some of them are hard to detect/remove.

CCleaner has a pretty good reputation, it's freeware and it removes the garbage of many popular softwares and of course Windows Registry. I used it myself many years. Although CCleaner is good, it wasn't good enough for me, I wanted more. - CCleaner doesn't clean ALL softwares, just the popular...

    Computer Tips Of The Day

No, no, you're wrong too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_malware Linux is just a bit safer than Windows, because Linux isn't an interesting target for malware-writers. If Linux was used by 85% of the world, like Windows, Linux would become a second Windows attacked by every malware-writer...

Bizarre new problem, cannot open movies, music and have no sound in Windows 7

Advice for the future : never keep your computer running overnight unguarded or disable at least your internet connection in Windows, otherwise you become a honeypot for all kinds of malware and/or hackers. I have an icon on my desktop, to disable/enable my internet connection immediately.

    A Golden Reboot

I fully understand. What ISR does, can be done by Image Backup also. (I only wonder how ATI makes it possible to act like an ISR with the same convenience and speed.) When a disk-crash occurs, ISR won't be of much help, but Image Backup will save your skin. ISR doesn't take care of your data...

I thought that Acronis Disk Image was an Image Backup software, that's not the same as Immediate System Recovery.

    A Golden Reboot

FirstDefense-ISR, but you can't buy it anymore, at least not officially. As you probably already know, a software is never dead on the internet. The development has been stopped, because it wasn't a commercial success. The maintenance however continues for everyone, who ever bought it. Most...
