    9600GT Problem.

Your PSU needs to be 400Watts with 26 Amps on the 12 V rail. If anything has changed since you started getting these problems then that would most likely be the cause. Try updating your drivers. If the above doesn't work check your temps. Nothings blocking the fan or anything like that? Have...

Doesn't tempt me one little bit! PC FTW!! Might have to wait a little but I wasn't planning on getting it too soon anyway.

    need help understanding this

If you have a Nvidia graphics card, I have found a way. Go start -> all programs -> NVIDIA Corporation -> Nvidia Control Panel -> Control Panel. There should be a little + or - next to the word display on the right hand side of the screen. Make it so that menu is expended by clicking on the...

Looking for a good card for video capture.

I have the Leadtek 2000H, comes with a remote, RCA and S-video input and a Digital and Analog Tuner. Does everything I need it to, record play the PS2 through my PC screen, time shifting and direct burn as well. And the absolute best part: BATTERIES INCLUDED!! :)

    Hardware Knowledge

In pretty much all the topics there are 101's like Video Card 101, CPU 101 and so on. They are a little dated so the "I'm lazy what CPU is best for me" should probably be ignored as well as other things suggesting products. Otherwise it is a GREAT start. Also by reading threads and asking...

    School computers (A Rant)

No, I was just saying that doing grade 5 maths in year nine is a little over the top, and that it's too easy. I started high school in year 7. If thats what you mean by freshman...

Computer safe to put on floor

The laptop cooling mat probably wouldn't make a difference, unless the case is on its side and doesn't have any feet. Then it might, just a little. I keep my PC on the floor and don't really have any problems with dust, and the front is mesh so you can't say because there is no intake fan. I...

a quad core Q6600 or another 8800gt msi (sli)

Overclocking 101. Yes XP Pro 32 bit will only make use of around 3.25 GBs of RAM. It does this because there are not enough "addresses" left for the memory. A 64 bit OS does not have this limitation, it's limited to 128 GBs of RAM.

    School computers (A Rant)

I remember that game lemonade stand. It's the best out of all those "educational" easy. The annoying thing is the tell us to go on maths sites meant for kids in grade 5. I'm in year 9!! and it is incredibly easy!!

Gaming system: Vista 64 or XP

If you are just gaming and want DX10 then go Vista 64. If you don't care that much for Vista or don't feel the need for DX10 go XP. Since XP use's less resources it will perform a little better as well. In your case just go Vista 64bit. With 4 GB of RAM who needs to worry about resources.

Which speakers? And will they do what I want (in gaming)?

You only need four "audio input thinge's" for 7.1 surround sound. You have 2 speakers on each channel. The other two would be for Line in and Mic. :) If I were you I would get the X-540's. Unless you are really into sound or don't like the look of them. Plus you save some money to buy...

CPU Temp question + should overclock?

Also remember that the E8400's have temp sensor issues. So if your using the core temp's it could be wrong. I quick fix would be to see what your CPU temp would be.The BIOS is also accurate. Just telling you so you know in the future. :)

Copying a file with a batch file

You could make it so every time your PC starts up it copies that file to that directory with a batch file. I'm a little rusty but I think something like this should do it. @echo off cd \ "DRIVE LETTER OF FILE EG C:\" cd "DIRECTORY OF ORIGINAL FILE EG \FOLDER\OTHERFOLDER" copy "FILE HERE"...

    School computers (A Rant)

We have Celerons and P3's with 256 Megabytes of RAM, Pentium D's with 1 Gig of RAM, and even Core2Duo's with 1 - 2 Gigs of RAM at our school. We get 300MB of storage and 200 MB of downloads a term. I don't find the Pentium D's to be fast enough but when your using a pentium 3 to use photoshop...
